Vectrix VX-1 electric motorcycles in the service of the Italian police [VIDEO]

A video has surfaced on Vimeo of the Vectrix electric motorcycle being used by the Italian police. Vectrixes were produced at a plant near Wroclaw, but they were clearly ahead of their time - the first bankruptcy was declared in Poland in 2009, and in 2014 the American branch of the company finally went bankrupt.

The pictures show motorcycles Vectrix VX-1 (white) and Vectrix VX-2 (yellow). At the start of production, the VX-1 model was equipped with 3,7 kWh nickel-metal hydride batteries, a solution associated with the Toyota Prius and not with modern electric vehicles. After the end of the company's presence in the NiMH market, the batteries were replaced with Li-FePO.

The range of the Vectrix VX-1 on a single charge was 102 kilometers at a speed of 40 km / h. The maximum speed was set at 100 km / h, and the electric motor developed 27 hp. Charging to 80 percent from a regular outlet took 2 hours. The car shown in the film traveled only 6,3 kilometers, which is approximately 1 kilometer per year.

Single copies of the motorcycle were checked by the police in Europe (also in Poland in 2011), Canada and the USA. They were tested for the possibility of replacing internal combustion motorcycles. However, before any final decisions were made, the company fell apart. It didn't help either Vectrix VX-1 pricewhich was originally priced at around € 50 (!).

Vectrix - what you need to know about the company

Vectrix was founded in 2006 in the United States, and the Chinese first invested in starting the company - hence the decision to locate the plant in Poland. Operations in the US ended at the end of 2013, and bankruptcy was declared in 2014 (Chapter 7).

Out of curiosity, it should be added that we managed to find one motorcycle on Otomoto. The year of production surprises us a little, because the bankruptcy process in Poland has been going on since 2009, and in 2016 the company was finally excluded from the register of entrepreneurs ...

The video was likely filmed late last year or this year because the Fantic XF1 e-bikes (e-bikes) that appear later in the video have only been available for sale since 2018.
