Electronic rearview mirror from Audi

Audi has introduced a new rear-view mirror solution. The traditional mirror was replaced by a camera and a monitor. The first vehicle to feature such a device will be the R8 e-tron.

This type of solution has racing roots. Audi first used it in the R18 Le Mans series this year. The small camera located at the rear of the car is aerodynamically shaped so it does not affect the performance of the car. In addition, its body is heated, which ensures image transmission in all weather conditions.

The data is then displayed on a 7,7-inch display. It was placed instead of the traditional rear-view mirror. It was made using AMOLED technology, the same technology used in the production of mobile phone screens. This device maintains a constant image contrast, so that the headlights do not blind the driver, and in strong sunlight, the image is automatically darkened.
