Electric scooter: Frisian clarifies its ambitions for 2021

Little known in the e-scooter market, Frison Scooters intends to accelerate its development in France in 2021. Together with brand CEO Sikong Lei, eBike Generation is looking back at last year and its plans for the coming months.

When was the Frison brand created?

Frison Scooters is a subsidiary of a Chinese electric scooter manufacturer that has been on the market for 15 years. In France, the Frison brand began its activities 5 years ago. At first it was operated by another company, and in 2019 it was taken over by Frison Scooters.

It took a little over three years to select the products to be sold on the French market and go through various approval procedures. The advantage is that we remain manufacturers. This distinguishes us from many competitors who are only importers.

How is the offer of Frisian products made?

Today we have about ten products, the assortment of which is divided into several areas.

We'll start with the entry-level € 2200, then the classic Vespa in the colors 50 and 125, and move on to the long-range electric maxi scooter in a segment similar to the BMW C-Evolution segment.

How does the Frisian network work? What are your goals?

The Frisian offer is intended for both B2B and B2C. In addition to the possibility of direct purchases, we work with a network of dealers. Today our products are sold by 11 stores in Paris and 5 in the provinces. Our network consists of both specialized electrical dealers and heating equipment dealers willing to integrate the first offering in this segment.

Maxi scooters and our new range of three-wheeled electric scooters work best today. Then we have the T3000 and T5000 models, especially the 125, where the performance is close to that of the maxi scooter, but at a more moderate price.

How is the after-sales service progressing?

We will take care of everything! We have a warehouse in Ile-de-France. Since we are affiliated with the parent company, we have all parts in stock. We have two levels of service. The first is directly operated by a dealer to whom we can easily ship parts. If the vehicle is under warranty, labor costs will be paid.

In case of more complex intervention, the scooter is repatriated, and the customer is offered a replacement car.

Frison is still a little-known brand in the French market. What are your goals for 2021?

We are in the process of increasing brand awareness and visibility by investing heavily in communication. We also strive to be more present in big cities. We are looking for a franchisee to create a 100% Frisian chain of stores.

At the same time, we will continue to develop our network of distributors, especially in cities that offer assistance with the purchase of electric scooters.

In terms of sales, what is Frisian's ambition?

In 2021, our goal is to reach a turnover of 2.5 million euros, which is twice as much as in 2020. We want to sell 2000 electric scooters combined across all categories this year.

Are there any new products?

Yes ! We are developing a new generation of electric motorcycles with two new models: a 50 cc 3 kW engine and a 125 cc 8 kW engine. Both versions will have removable batteries. This is a practical aspect that our clients demand. The launch is scheduled for late 2021.

In terms of scooters, at the end of the year we already launched the offer of Frisian electric tricycles. To complete it, we are working on an 8000 W version with a maximum speed of 120 km / h. Its launch will depend on the timing of the agreement.
