Electric scooter: Honda and Yamaha begin joint trials in Japan

Partners in the electric market, the two enemy brothers Honda and Yamaha have just started experimenting with a fleet of around thirty electric scooters in the Japanese city of Saitama.

Called E-Kizuna, this pilot program will begin in September and provides for the installation of 30 electric scooters as part of a battery rental and exchange service. It is the Yamaha e-Vino electric scooter - a 50 cc model marketed by Yamaha since 2014 and not available in Europe - which will be used for the experiment which aims to assess the relevance of such a service in Japanese cities.

For Honda and Yamaha, the e-Kizuna project is part of an extension of an agreement formalized between the two manufacturers last October and which included joint work for the development of a new generation of electric scooters for their domestic market. .
