Vespa electric scooter coming into production soon

The Vespa Elettrica, presented just under a year ago at EICMA, will go into production in September. A car that marks the entry of the renowned Italian brand, owned by the Piaggio Group, into the increasingly sought-after segment of electric scooters.

This time, here it is! After much research, the Vespa is preparing to enter the electric era with its first model, which will begin assembly in September at the Pontedera assembly lines in Tuscany.

Equivalent to a 50cc thermal scooter See, Vespa Elettrica comes with an engine rated at 2 kW and a peak value of 4 kW and 200 Nm. Limited to 45 km / h, the Vespa Elettrica will offer two driving modes: Eco or Power.

When it comes to the battery, the electric Vespa will offer two options. The first with a battery and a range of 100 kilometers, and the second, called the Elettrica X, with a double charge, or 200 kilometers per charge. Promising a lifespan of up to 1000 cycles, or 50.000 70.000 to 4.2 XNUMX km, the battery packs offered by Vespa are removable and claim a capacity of XNUMX kWh.

Orders open mid-October

If Vespa is silent about the price of its first electric scooter, the manufacturer announces a rather high price in the Vespa range, which suggests a price of 3000 to 4000 euros.

In its press release, the manufacturer says it will open orders from mid-October. They can only be performed online through a dedicated website and will be linked to “new” purchase formulas, which the manufacturer must describe to us in detail within a few weeks.

From the end of October, the electric Vespa is expected to be gradually commercialized in all European markets. One way to coincide with EICMA 2018, which should draw attention to the car.

In addition to Europe, the Italian brand is also targeting Asia and the United States, where marketing will begin in early 2019.
