E-bike: € 500 bonus in Greater Lyon

To encourage soft mobility during deconfinement, the price of an electric bike has just increased to € 500.

Electric bicycles will be among the top winners of deconfinement. Determined to offer alternatives to public transport and avoid the massive shift to private cars, more and more communities are promoting soft mobility. In Lyon, prices for bicycles in the metropolis have increased. Previously it was capped at 100 euros, now it goes up to 500 euros.

In practice, the assistance extends to both new and random vehicles. There are three main categories of equipment: electric bicycles, folding bicycles, and cargo or family bicycles. To use it, the buyer must reside in one of the 59 municipalities of Greater Lyon. He must also make his purchase from a professional merchant located in the Lyon Metropolis or in the Metropolis self-healing associative workshop.

New bike lanes and extended sidewalks

In addition to this purchase aid, the metropolis announced the redevelopment of the public space. 77 kilometers of new cycle paths will be completed by September, including a first phase of 12 kilometers by 11 May and another 33 kilometers by 2 June.

The capacity of the bike racks will also be expanded with the installation of 3000 temporary bike racks in Part-Dieu, Gerland, as well as close to shops and schools. Guarded bike parks will also be installed, as well as additional parking spaces in existing relay parks.
