E-bike: Rennes renews long-term rental offer in 2017
For the fifth year, the Star network will offer electric bicycles for long-term rentals and will introduce some new features, including the opening of services for legal entities.
After an increase from 350 to 1000 e-bikes last year, the long-term e-bike rental system will be rolled out to Rennes in 2017. Launched in 2013, the service, operated by the star network, aims to promote electrified cycling as an alternative mobility solution. to a personal car.
Some new items
The initiative, led by the Metropolitan Region of Rennes, has a total budget of € 800.000, half of which is funded by the Metropolitan Innovation Pact (PMI), and includes some new features in 2017:
- The term of employment has been extended, contracts are concluded from 3-9 months to 1-2 years.
- The same bike can be rented for two years to one or two renters;
- The system is open to legal entities in addition to individuals;

The lease rates have also been revised and now differ depending on the lease term and the type of recipient. Specifically, the annual rental price starts from 120 euros for a subscriber of the star network to 450 euros for PDE. Finally, it should be noted that only individuals will be able to demand the buyback of the bike at the end of the contract.
