E-bikes and imports from China: Europe tightens rules

While it is due to take a decision on Chinese dumping in the bicycle market by July 20, the European Commission has just passed new rules requiring all imports to be registered from May. One way to make it easier to apply any sanctions.

The new rule, which came into effect this Friday, May 4, sounds like a warning to importers of Chinese electric bicycles and represents an effective means of ending the high mass usually seen in the months leading up to Brussels' dumping decisions. to matter.

Endorsed by EBMA, the European Bicycle Manufacturers Association, the measure should allow European authorities to apply retroactive customs duties in the event of a decision on sanctions.
