Is there an alternative to tank cutters?

Currently, tank cutters are not the first tool for plumbers and other craftsmen who need to cut round holes.

One reason for this is that the cutting blade can sometimes have trouble cutting through the material.

Hole saws

Instead, hole saws are more commonly used.

The hole saw is a cylindrical steel saw with teeth arranged in a circle.

Compared to a tank cutter, hole saws are much easier to use. The pressure exerted by the hole saw during operation is evenly distributed over the material being cut due to the movement of the teeth around the tool.

When the tool is installed in an electric drill, it can cut a round hole much cleaner than a tank cutter.

However, hole saws are not as versatile as power saws because they cannot be set up to cut holes of different sizes. To cut holes of different diameters, you will need different hole saws of different sizes.

Hole saws can be bought in sets or individually and are quite inexpensive.

flat bits

Although flat bits are primarily designed for woodworking, they can also be used to cut thin plastic.

Flat bits are available in various sizes. diameter from 8 mm to 32 mm. The size of the flat bit you need will depend on the diameter of the hole you want to cut.

To cut small round holes in plastic water tanks, some plumbers use flat bits with an electric drill.

Since flat bits are inexpensive, they are very popular with merchants.
