Many two-wheelers have long dreamed of a scooter that runs on hydrogen. Manufacturers are also showing increasing interest in this technology ... French startup Mob-ion is in the process of developing AM1, the world's first hydrogen scooter!

The result of the partnership of two companies

Mob-ion is a French company founded in 2015, specializing in electric vehicles and energy storage. Wishing to continue its innovation in sustainable urban mobility solutions, the company is launching its first hydrogen scooter project.

To develop it, Mob-ion partnered with STOR-H, a French-Swiss company specializing in the development of environmentally friendly hydrogen-based solutions. By combining their respective skills, the two companies have succeeded in developing new urban two-wheeled prototype called AM1 which works quietly and without greenhouse gas emissions.

Clean transport for the city

The aim of this new scooter is to offer an environmentally friendly transport for city trips.

Son Engine 3 kW powered by hydrogen cartridges cylindrical, resembling soda cans. They are connected to a buffer battery that absorbs power fluctuations and provides a cold start. Fully recyclable and refillable thousands of times, the cartridges also provide significant space and weight savings over a standard lithium-ion battery.

On the other hand, at the moment, no official information about the autonomy of the AM1 hydrogen scooter has been reported.

No more recharging!

Hydrogen also solves the problem of charging times for electric scooters. The user simply needs to remove the cartridges when they are empty and then replace them with new ones to continue using their two-wheeled bike.

An important advantage for those who want to avoid the stress of running out of gas or a flat battery! Like propane, STOR-H recently announced that a cartridge replacement system will be rolled out to retail stores.

In the fall, a 100% functional prototype

At the moment, Mob-ion and its partner STOR-H are actively working on a prototype design, which should be fully functional from next fall season (according to some rumors, around October).

However, it will be necessary to wait until the first half of 2023 for the AM1 hydrogen scooter to be finalized and sold in France. When this step is taken, Mob-ion already plans to continue working with STOR-H to adapt its innovative, green hydrogen technology to other types of vehicles.

And you ? What do you think of the hydrogen scooter?
