Electricity specialist Morfuns Bicycle has just lifted the curtain on the Eole, a folding electric bike that has been billed at less than $ 1000.

While carbon fiber bikes have a reputation for being expensive, Morfuns strives to make them more affordable. The company has been offering Morfuns Eole pre-order on its website for several days now.  

Two configurations

Mounted on 20-inch wheels, the Eole is powered by a 250W motor. Placed on the rear wheel, it is powered by a 252Wh (36V - 7Ah) battery. Invisibly integrated into the seat tube, it provides up to 50 km of battery life on a single charge.

Morfuns offers two versions. Differences play only in part of the cycle. Shown as entry-level, the Eole C gets a Shimano Tourney 7-speed drivetrain, Zoom disc brakes and Kenda tires. Announced on the brand's website starting at $ 999 or about 840 euros, it is complemented by a more upscale version of the Eole S. In the starter version, it retails for $ 1259, it gets a 9-speed Shimano SORA drivetrain, Schwalble tires. , Tektro disc brakes, and carbon fiber stem and handlebars. It is enough to increase its weight to 12,8 kg versus 15,8 kg for Eole C.

If the characteristics of the Morfuns e-bike are attractive, the manufacturer has yet to reach the stage of industrialization of its model. The company is currently raising funds through its Indiegogo participation platform. If all goes well, she plans to start shipping from December 2020.

An encouraging moment: Morfuns is not one of those startups that appeared from scratch. Founded in 2013, it already has years of experience in the field of electric bicycles.
