This hydrogen bike could revolutionize the cycling industry

Dutch design firm StudioMom has come up with a very innovative cargo bike concept that incorporates Australian-developed hydrogen storage technology, the LAVO system.

StudioMom has developed bicycles, e-bikes and other eco-friendly vehicles for several brands including Gazelle and Cortina. The company has now created the LAVO bike for the Providence Asset Group, an investment company that finances and manages a number of renewable energy assets.

"Hydrogen technology promises emission-free energy and can transport three times more energy per unit weight than a modern battery.", I explained to StudioMom. “Thus, it is easy to achieve greater range, higher speed or increased payload. Small-scale transport combined with hydrogen finally solves the short-range problem. Thus, the cargo bike can increasingly serve as an alternative to the car for transporting goods over long distances. ” A strong and modern concept that can provide new sustainable solutions for green mobility.

LAVO is the world's only commercially available hydrogen energy storage system designed for everyday use by individuals and businesses. This technology, developed by leading researchers at the University of New South Wales, aims to provide a more complete, versatile and sustainable solution than other energy storage solutions currently on the market. The LAVO system should be ready by mid-2021.
