Riding uphill in winter. What to remember?

Riding uphill in winter. What to remember? Driving on a road covered with snow or ice is a challenge, and then it becomes especially difficult to climb a mountain. What to do to move on and easily overcome the hill?

In some provinces, winter holidays are just beginning, while in Poland, January is a popular date for skiing. Drivers must be prepared for a variety of weather conditions, including the fact that they will not always have to drive on a dry, black surface. How to climb a mountain covered with snow and ice?

1. Gain momentum before you climb - it can be very difficult later.

2. It is better to prevent wheel slip. To do this, you need to choose the right gear and skillfully manipulate the gas pedal.

“In the event of wheel slip, we must reduce the pressure on the gas, but at the same time try to keep the car moving in order to avoid a restart,” says Zbigniew Veseli, director of the Renault driving school.

3. Wheels must point straight ahead. This gives them a better grip.

4. What if we can't get off the ground? Then you should put rubber mats under the driven wheels or try to put some sand under the wheels - you can carry a small amount of it with you in winter just in case.

5. Let's prepare for the various possibilities and before we set off on a journey, during which we may encounter impassable and snow-covered roads, we will purchase snow chains. However, you need to put them on early enough, because when you get stuck in a snowdrift on a hill, simply putting on the chains will not help much.
