Ferrari 488 Pista 2019: hybrid version that breaks the barrier of sanity

Pista accelerates to 200 km / h from standstill in 7.6 seconds.

When does a road car with 530kW and 700Nm need more power? If it's a Ferrari, of course.

Yes, putting aside logic and perfectly reasonable concerns about how much the human body can take, the famous speed freaks in Italy have announced that they will introduce an even more ridiculous version of the 488 Pista with a hybrid drivetrain later this year.

The Pista - an already upgraded version of the 488 GTB - can hit 200 km/h from standstill in 7.6 seconds and top speeds in excess of 340 km/h, but this is the new, truly electrifying version, confirmed by Ferrari CEO Luis. Camilleri will crush even these titanic figures this week.

The as-yet-unnamed hypercar will sit at the very top of Ferrari's sports car line-up and will feature a 3.9-liter V8 engine and at least one electric motor, but possibly four (maybe one for each wheel, though all-wheel drive isn't that usually offer their sports cars).

The car, which will be unveiled at a special event later this year rather than at the Geneva Motor Show, will begin deliveries to customers (who are obviously crazy) in early 2020 and will be part of the company's "normal life cycle". Camilleri, which means it is not a one-off or special model.

This will be the company's second attempt at hybridization, a technique it has perfected in its Formula 12 team with KERS, after the 2013 La Ferrari launched back in XNUMX.

While hybrid technology may still be new at Ferrari, it is the future, Camilleri explained, confirming to industry analysts that a whopping 60% of the product portfolio will offer hybrid options by 2022.

Even more shocking news is that the world's fastest and noisiest car company will also offer an all-electric and therefore quiet Ferrari sometime after 2022, Camilleri confirmed.

You can bet there will be a hybrid version of the upcoming Puronsangue SUV that was announced last September. Camilleri said Ferrari's response to the creation of the SUV has been very positive.

“This is a segment that is clearly growing,” he said. "Many of our customers would like to have Purosangue for daily use."
