Fiat 500 1.2 8V Lounge

The recipe is simple: a car that evokes nostalgic feelings with its name and shape, as well as its technology and driving performance, certainly belongs to the present. However, in such vehicles, the appearance and interior design are even more important.

The Fiat 500 already matched this recipe perfectly when it hit the market, so it is of course perfectly understandable that the designers and engineers did not take too much risk and change the components, although they did change about 1.900 minor and major parts during the refurbishment. The shape, for example, remained much the same, but they still managed to update the specs (even with the addition of LED daytime running lights and xenon headlights). The same goes for the rear, here also the new LED lights stand out.

But a nice feature is only half (or even less) of the job when it comes to converting customers. It was inside that the Fiat 500 took its biggest step forward. Again: the basic steps remained the same, but luckily the folks at Fiat knew that the car was sold mostly (or also) to a younger generation of "smartphones" for whom analog retro meters aren't very appealing. Therefore, it is very welcome that such a Fiat 500 (option) is digital, perfectly designed and transparent gauges. And so it's great that he got the new Uconnect 2 entertainment and information system, which can also connect to social networks that are so important now. The thing works well and pleases the eye.

The technology has been improved (especially with the engines) for the sake of the environment, but the base 1,2-liter 69-horsepower gasoline mill is considered powerful enough not to spoil the character of the car, and reasonably economical. the driver is not interested in why a small car consumes a lot of fuel. A small 0,9-liter turbocharged petrol engine would be a better choice (even in the weaker 89bhp version), but unfortunately, you will needlessly look for it in the price list.

  • The Fiat 500 remains what it was from the start: a cute, rewarding (mostly) city car that is loved by old and young alike.
