Fiat Abarth 595 Competition 2015 обзор

We pay attention to the newest and brightest stars in the automotive world, asking the questions you want answered. But there's only one question that really needs to be answered, would you buy it?

What it is?

This is the "racing" version of the Fiat 500 Abarth and the other performance model is the Turismo. Underneath, they're pretty much the same, except the Competizione gets a quad-tip dual-mode exhaust, complete with a "kick" when upshifting over 4000rpm.

How many?

The three-door hatch starts at $36,500, the convertible is more expensive, as is the automated manual.

What are competitors?

Ford Fiesta ST, VW Polo GTi, Skoda Fabia RS, Peugeot 208GTi, Renault Clio RS.

What's under the hood?

Power is provided by a 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine with 118 kW/230 Nm.

How are you?

Okay, actually. Seems stronger than 118 kW when the Sport button is pressed. The old five-speed manual transmission gets in the way a bit. Bucks and serve a lot when you get up. The exhaust gas is a pleasure and the car accelerates to 7.4 km/h in 0 seconds.

Is it economical?

On premium unleaded gasoline, it can reach 5.4 l / 100 km. We used significantly more than this in mixed driving.

Is it green?

Rated 4.5 stars by Green Vehicle Guide.

How safe is it?

Competizione gets five stars for safety.

It's comfortable?

Not really. The seat is too upright and too high, the steering wheel feels out of place, the suspension is too stiff, and the ride is choppy. Again, this is a track model. Tires squeal too much for us - need better steering geometry/tyres.

What is it like to drive a car?

Might be fun. It would be better with a more powerful engine from Abarth Essesse - it's just a chip and recalibration. The Competizione is quite agile, with direct steering and strong brakes. Don't push too hard in corners unless it's set up properly.

Is this value for money?

No, you can get any of the competition, most of which have more performance, for less money.
