Fiat Bravo 1.9 Multijet 8V Emotion

It is true that (cold) this engine does not like to start, but when it does, the body shakes a little at first. But from here it becomes quiet and there are no unwanted vibrations inside. In fact, from this point of view, he is exemplary from the very beginning.

In front of demanding drivers, there are always different drivers, those who like to drive fast when necessary, but do not like the brutality that is otherwise typical of turbocharged engines. An engine like this Bravo suits them: it pulls well at low revs, is useful in all areas of operation and is very smooth and smooth behind the wheel. Even when the situation changes to less favorable (climbs, more passengers and luggage) due to the flexibility of the engine, five gears in the gearbox are quite enough, but the truth is, a correctly calculated sixth gear would suit him perfectly.

The engine spins up easily in fourth gear at 4.500 rpm (red rectangle), and from 3.800 rpm the speed increase is slower. Even the rest of the engine does not give the impression of being alive, although this is rather the result of the driver's feelings on the one hand, and the engine electronics program on the other. Of course, with this engine, you can drive pretty quickly in Bravo, but is the fuel consumption in this combination more pleasant? if you are driving within the permissible speed, that is, quite quickly, but without interruption in work in adolescence, the on-board computer shows even less than seven liters per 100 kilometers. Even at top speed, it should be content with 14 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers, which is a good result for speeds close to 200 kilometers per hour.

The chassis, which is a good compromise between comfort and sportiness, has the same calm character as the drive mechanics; even in very fast corners, the body does not tilt much, so it swallows bumps of any shape very well, which will be especially appreciated by passengers. At the same time, the rather powerful power steering seems to be the right choice for such a designed vehicle.

Thus, from what has been described, it immediately becomes clear: the target group for such a Bravo is completely different than for a similar, but in character bold other Bravo with a 16-valve turbodiesel. There are many who prefer a leisurely, but at the same time fast drive.

evaluation

  • The average demanding driver will be satisfied: the engine is flexible and powerful, but not brutal, quite the opposite. Even the rest of the ride is light and tireless, and the car is neat inside and out.
