Fiat Bravo II - ugly things get worse

Sometimes it happens that a person walks into a store, sees a shirt and immediately feels that he should have it. So what if this is the hundredth shirt and there is nowhere to hide them - she screams “buy me”. And this is probably what the Fiat Stilo lacked - the car was really good, but it didn’t have “the one”. And since real marketers never give up, the company decided to overheat the structure, only changed the spices. What does the Fiat Bravo II look like?

Stilo's problem is that he had to finish the competition, but meanwhile he almost finished Fiat himself. It's hard to say why it failed, but the Italians took another approach. They decided to leave what they thought was good and work on the emotional side of the design. In practice, it turned out that the whole thing remained unchanged, and the appearance changed beyond recognition. This is how the Bravo model was created, which entered the market in 2007. In this case, was there any point in such a heated structure? It may be surprising - but it happened.

Fiat Bravo, both in name and in appearance, began to refer to the model from the late 90s, which, in the end, was quite successful - it was even chosen as the car of the year. The new version received many stylistic references to the old version and it is safe to say that before the elections it did not shake the imagination of politicians, but it was not boring either. Simply, he is intrigued. And this, combined with a reasonable price, made a splash in Fiat showrooms. Today, Bravo can be bought cheaply used, and then sold even cheaper. On the one hand, the loss of value is a minus, and on the other hand, for the difference from the VW Golf, you can even go to Tenerife and make an eagle in the sand. However, it is worth remembering that the low price must be due to something.

The truth is that Bravo is hard at work introducing old solutions into the modern world. Poorly equipped basic versions, only one body style to choose from, small brake discs, lots of cheap plastic, old-fashioned Dualogic automated transmission or McPherson struts connected to a torsion beam at the rear - not too sophisticated solutions - competition from multi-link suspension, dual clutch automatic systems and a variety of body options offers significantly more options. But there is always a downside to the coin - a simple design is easy to maintain, which is especially important in the case of suspension. Our country kills almost everyone, and the torsion beam is cheap and commonplace. In addition, the Bravo works quite well off-road. However, minor glitches can be annoying. In diesel engines, an EGR emergency valve, flaps in the intake manifold, a flow meter and a particulate filter along with a dual-mass wheel. Electronics also fails - for example, a power steering module, or a hanging radio tape recorder and the Blue & Me system in the first copies. Pre-styling versions also had leaks in the headlights and even small pockets of corrosion on the edges of the sheet metal - often at the site of chipped paint, which itself is relatively fragile. We can say that against the background of competitors, Bravo does not surprise with its technical elegance, but I would not risk it with such a statement.

Sometimes I get the impression that most people associate the production of popular Italian brands with the production of counterfeit Rollex in China. Meanwhile, the Italians really know how to build a beautiful car, and their Multijet diesel engine gets great reviews. Either way, it's the engine line-up, led by the innovative MultiAir/T-Jet petrol engines, that gives the Bravo a lot of freshness. After all, diesels reign in it - just open a portal with ads and view a few of them to confirm yourself. The most popular versions are 1.9 and 2.0. They are between 120 or 165 km. In newer models, you can also find the smaller 1.6 Multijet. In fact, all options are very nice - they work subtly and delicately, the turbo lag is small, they readily accelerate and are plastic. Of course, the 150-horsepower version guarantees the most emotions, but the weaker one is more than enough for every day - overtaking is not tiring. Gasoline engines, in turn, are divided into two groups. The first is designs from ancient times, including a 1.4 liter engine. The second is modern supercharged T-Jet motorcycles. It is worth keeping a distance to both groups - the first is not suitable for this machine, and the second is structurally complex and new, so it is still difficult to say something about it. Although on the road captivating. However, the problem with compact cars is that they have to be versatile. The question is, is this Bravo?

The luggage compartment capacity of 400 liters means that in terms of carrying capacity the car occupies a worthy place in its class - the trunk can be increased to 1175 liters. Worse when it comes to rear seat space - the front is really comfortable, tall passengers in the back will already complain. On the other hand, the patents that Fiat is known for are pleasing - the dashboard design is nice, legible and has materials with interesting textures, although most of them are a bit cheesy. Power steering with two modes of operation greatly facilitates maneuvering in the parking lot. All you have to do is add a voice-activated multimedia system, 5 stars in the EuroNCAP crash test and compact dimensions to make the car a pretty good everyday companion.

It's funny, but Bravo proves one interesting point. There are several components to the success of a car that should be just as good. Price, design, construction, equipment… What the Stilo lacked was perhaps too colorless. Bravo gave the proven technology a lot more character, and that was enough to make the idea stick. Thanks to this, the enemies of lovers of the slogan: "Ladies, buy Golf" have a choice of another model - beautiful and stylish. And the Italians, and hardly any other nation, have such good taste.
