Fiat Seicento - Changing the alternator belt

The alternator belt wears out like any other rubber component in a car. The most common sign of its poor performance is creaking. A damaged belt can immobilize the car, so you should take care of its condition in advance.

Let's start by lifting the car from the front passenger side and removing the wheel. Then loosen the alternator tensioner bolt - you need a 17 wrench.

Then we loosen the belt tension with some kind of suspension, for example, leaning on the base where the battery and generator are located.

To remove the belt, you must also unscrew the sensor at the gear wheel.

We remove the old belt.

We put a new one - there may be problems here, because. the new belt is hard enough and after god does not want to go in. So, first we put on a large wheel, and then as much as possible on the upper part of the generator wheel, then we switch to gear V. We screw in two bolts and turn the nut counterclockwise.

This will cause the belt to burst completely.

After that, we proceed to tension the belt. We need to tighten up the tensioner bolt a little, but we might have problems because the nut could turn. You have to catch it with something (second 17 or tongs) which requires a lot of exercise and engine hugging. Tighten the strap with the bridge (but not too tight - the strap should be stiff, but should sag with more pressure).
