Volkswagen. The first drawings of the new mini-motorhome
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles presents the first drawings and details of the Caddy Beach successor model. At the heart of the mini-motorhome is a new model - Caddy 5.
One of the new features of this model is the ability to look at the stars through a panoramic glass sunroof of 1,4 square meters. m. Those who prefer to sleep in the dark or do not want to wake up in the morning from the sun can, of course, darken all windows, including the glass roof. The comfort of sleeping on a nearly two-meter bed is provided by leaf springs, also used in beds in California and Grand California.
The back of the car cleverly tucks away the lightweight camping chairs and table more commonly known from the California and Grand California models. Two practical storage bags can be taken home with you, where you can easily store all your essentials. These bags, by attaching them to the windows at the back of the car, also serve as a kind of partition inside the car.

The new Caddy is equipped with 19 driver assistance systems to ensure comfort and safety on the road. Among them is the Travel Assist system, which for the first time in the history of a Volkswagen Commercial Vehicle provides semi-autonomous driving across the entire speed range. New to the Caddy, already known from the Crafter and Transporter series, is the Trailer Assist system, which greatly simplifies maneuvering in reverse with a trailer, as well as the Side-Assist and Rear Traffic Alert systems.
Like the driver assistance systems, the Caddy's new four-cylinder engines are also innovative. They represent the next stage in the evolution of the powertrain, comply with Euro 6 emission standards for 2021 and are equipped with diesel particulate filters. For the first time, TDI engines from 55 kW/75 hp. up to 90 kW/122 hp also equipped with a new dual injection system. Thanks to two SCR catalytic converters and therefore dual AdBlue injection, nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions are significantly lower compared to the previous model, making the Caddy TDI engines one of the cleanest diesel engines in the world. Turbocharged petrol engine (TSI) with 84 kW/116 hp also effective.
The world premiere of the new compact motorhome will take place virtually and is scheduled for early September this year.
