Ford announces new Mustang Black Accent package as part of fan competition

The mystery behind Ford's cryptic social media posts has been revealed after the automaker announced a Black Accent package for the Ford Mustang. However, the dark tone package has yet to be unveiled, and the firm is asking subscribers to help name the pony car-themed package.

A new one is just around the corner, but it looks like the Blue Oval isn't over yet with the sixth-generation S550. In a tweet, Ford has officially announced the upcoming black trim package for the outgoing generation Mustang. However, the announcement came with a tempting request: fans can suggest titles for the upcoming special.

The competition is open to all legal residents of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia, aged 18 or over. Entries must be received by 8:00 AM ET June 7, 2022. Contest winners will be notified via email.

Entries must be in English and must be original works, while Ford cautioned against offensive or inappropriate names. The company begged to keep the surname, "otherwise we will tell your mother."

Will it be available for Mach-E?

As for the car itself, Ford has yet to share any details other than a black pony badge paired with a set of black-painted aluminum wheels. This isn't the first time a black accent package has been introduced, but Ford has referred to previous versions as is or in the most recent 2022 Mustang Stealth Edition. The blue oval found it necessary to pair the package with the brand name, hence the contest.

What about the new Ford Mustang?

Meanwhile, the new Mustang has already been spotted during tests on public roads. It has been spied on several times, but reports say the next generation Mustang won't debut until April 2023, which is April 17, when the original Mustang was unveiled at the 1964 New York World's Fair.
