Ford Bronco R successfully completes 2020 Baja 1000 track

This off-road racing model is powered by a 2.7-liter Ford EcoBoost engine and a 10-speed Ford SelectShift automatic transmission.

Ford followed up with the Bronco R prototype, a truck model geared toward off-road racing.

The iconic model is back. Bronco R Racing prototypee, piloted by Cameron Steel, Shelby Hall and Ford's veteran off-road team, finished the famous 1000 Baja 2 class race in just 32 hours.

This is not the first time Bronco has entered this race. The SUV adds to the Bronco's history of competing in Baja since 1967.

“When the Bronco returned we said it would continue the legacy of the first generation Broncos that changed the off-road landscape forever, and today’s finish shows we are continuing the Bronco ‘Built Wild’ bloodline,” he said.

This model was developed in collaboration with Ford Performance, design and development by Geiser Bros. and champion Mr. Trophy truck Baja 1000, Cameron Steele, both of whom have come up with downright inspiring designs that are likely to be something off-road enthusiasts are looking forward to when the upcoming Bronco is world premiered next spring.

Ford looks to continue to make its mark with the Bronco and continue the brand's legacy at Baja, which includes the first overall 4×4 class win in the 1000 Baja 1969 class, a feat no other manufacturer has achieved since.
