Ford Bronco Wildtrak with Hoss 3.0 package looks like a little Raptor ready for adventure

Ford updates the Bronco Wildtrak's Hoss package to version 3.0 and adds some improvements for the off-road SUV. The Hoss 3.0 package offers high-speed off-road capability so you can venture out to explore the wildest places.

Ford's Bronco SUV rolled out the doors with a head full of steam and hundreds of thousands of reservations, only for the pandemic and a litany of production issues to temporarily stifle enthusiasm to a dull roar. However, parts shortages and assembly issues have started to subside, just as interest in the 4x4 has picked up again with the recent reveals of the new 2022 and .

Bronco Wildtrak Upgrade

But the second model year of this reborn SUV isn't just about these more extreme, specialized models: Ford also quietly updated the Bronco Wildtrak with a new Hoss 3.0 package.

The Bronco Wildtrak is the high-speed off-road variant of the mainline Bronco, designed to handle the whoops, jumps, and leaps of the desert—exactly the kind of high-stress duty cycle where a high-travel, long-travel suspension Performance isn't just a nice feature to have, it's a necessity.

Hoss 3.0 package available for both versions

The new package is available for two- and four-door models, and the heart of the system is centered around 2.5-inch aluminum-bodied Fox internally bypass shocks combined with a unique spring rate. The $2,515 option package also includes a rear sway bar.

Just as important, the Hoss 3.0 includes a heavier-duty steering rack pulled from the Bronco Raptor parts bin. Ford officials say the new setup offers a 40% gain in peak load compared to lesser Bronco steering units.

That's important, especially if you plan on running a larger tire under your deck. Some Bronco owners have reported steering-related failures when off-road, so it sounds like a key hardware upgrade. It also includes a stronger set of internal and external seatstays that, according to the blue oval, are 32% stronger than the existing Hoss 1.0 and 2.0 suspension offerings.

More improvements for the Hoss 3.0 package

Rounding out the Wildtrak changes with Hoss 3.0 is a set of steel skid plates and a powder coated front bumper with integrated tow hooks and fog lights.

If you already have a Bronco Wildtrak order and want to upgrade your vehicle to include the Hoss 3.0 package, you might be in luck, at least as long as your future truck is an unscheduled order with no set order. You can contact your dealer for more information.

While the new 2022 Ford Bronco Wildtrak with the Hoss 3.0 package falls short of a Raptor, if you don't want the steroidal widebody look, power and cost of that high-end halo model, these updates can help close the gap. the achievement gap. Plus, the Raptor is a four-door-only model, so if you're more of a fan of the two-door short body style, this new package should go a long way toward eliminating that high-speed off-road itch.
