The avalanche of coupe-convertibles in the compact class is gaining momentum. After the VW Eos and the Opel Astra Twin Top, Ford is now joining the race in this type of model with its new Focus SS.

Pininfarina can produce up to 20 units a year, about half of which is expected to find buyers in the German market. The goal sounds quite realistic, because this Focus with the extremely unreasonable official name Coupe-Cabriolet is cheaper than its competitors from Opel and VW, regardless of equipment level.

A special pride of the car's designers is the trunk, which has a volume of 248 liters with an open roof and 534 liters with a closed roof. This means that even if you're traveling outdoors, you'll still be able to carry two full-size travel bags with you - an impressive feat for a convertible of the same dimensions. And although the model does not have the Easy-Load function, like the Astra, access to the trunk is quite easy.

A two-liter diesel is a suitable addition to the model.

Despite weighing almost 1,6 tons, it has 136 hp. with., the diesel version has not lost the excellent handling characteristic of the brand on the road. The heavy vehicle handles accurately without causing irritation from excessive suspension stiffness, although the chassis is significantly tighter than the standard closed version. So the two-liter diesel is very suitable for this car, despite its weakness at start, gaining additional points with its smooth operation and moderate fuel consumption.

The two-liter Duratec petrol engine (145 hp) certainly fits the picture incomparably better than the weak 1,6-liter base engine. One of the big advantages of the model is also the fact that when the roof is lowered behind the large windshield, passengers are comfortable enough.
