Ford Galaxy 1.9 TDI Trendline

But since the damage is essentially one, we can safely skip it and focus primarily on ideas. We were impressed with the ease of use of all the drawers, of which there are indeed many on the dashboard and in the doors. Over long distances, the life of the can holders, and on hot days, also a very efficient air conditioner makes life easier for passengers.

There's even a two-piece for an extra charge, so second-row passengers have their own temperature controls. The ergonomics are very good, only the steering wheel is too flat and, despite being adjustable in both directions, it still feels like a truck.

The materials in the interior are no longer inferior, on the contrary - Galaxy in this respect is at the top of the class of large limousines. The plastic is strong but pleasant to the touch and well finished, as are the flooring, doors and seats. It sits very well in the front seat, in the second row, regardless of the position of the front seat, and in the third - for obvious reasons - there is less legroom for adults.

The seats are easy to remove, move longitudinally, and also pivot, although they are not entirely light when taken out of the car. This fate often befell the two in the back row in particular, as this only happens to the specimen when the trunk is fully occupied. However, with five seats, there is almost no baggage limit.

While driving, it provides a high seating position and the resulting good visibility, and for limousine minibuses, very good position on the road and handling. Suspension is a good compromise between comfort and stiffness, but racing mechanics are not. The 1-litre, 9-horsepower turbodiesel powering the front wheels is taken from the Volkswagen stable, and that's enough. In the morning he walks rough and noisy, but after a couple of minutes he becomes civilized and does not bother him at all on long runs.

It can easily move at a speed of about 160 km / h, and also has a modest consumption: on average, we aim at 8 liters per hundred kilometers. The turbo bore is not pronounced, perhaps the engine is short of breath just above idle, and then paired with a six-speed manual transmission is excellent. The gears work well and all motorization and brakes are sovereign, even when the car is fully loaded.

The Galaxy with its more powerful TDI engine is, in our opinion, the best of its kind. It's a pity (well, we got it) that it is so expensive here, despite the rather rich equipment, which, in addition to the ESP system, includes everything you need. In sales statistics, it would then be even easier to cut down on gasoline engines.

evaluation

  • Galaxy is spacious, usable and excellent mechanics. There are few mistakes, especially in some decisions regarding folding the seats, you can follow the example of the Espace, but as a package it is certainly one of the most attractive one-room options. Especially when combined with an economical (but not the most advanced) turbodiesel engine.
