Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDCi Sport

Ford is not far behind either, as the Mondeo has also taken care of the Sport equipment package, which more than obviously enhances the car's already very dynamic character. So they put 17-inch wheels on the base Mondeo, lowered it by 15 millimeters and covered the seats in leather on the outer edges. They also sewed some leather on the gear lever and the mechanical brake lever, and attached a few more ornaments made of "brushed aluminum" and chrome, and the Mondeo Sport was created.

It is difficult to estimate the impact of "emphasized" sports suspension on driving comfort. After all, the test car for an additional surcharge of 118.000 SIT was shod in 18-inch slippers with low-cut 225/40 R 18 tires, which undoubtedly intercept small humps and similar short road irregularities worse than high-cut tires, say 16-inch shoes. The sporty Mondeo is therefore less effective in alleviating (especially shorter) bumps, but this loss is by no means enough to be considered uncomfortable. Even during corners, despite the winter footwear, the steering mechanism did not respond worse, so I'm happy to write: the Mondeo Sport, if nothing else, maintained the dynamism of the excellent chassis of the base model, while driving comfort did not suffer.

On the other hand, with the selected engine, its sportiness only conditionally increases. Namely, it does not convince from idle speed up to about 1800 rpm (requires a lot of gas when starting uphill), but when the turbine breathes at full speed, it "drives" all the way to the number 4000. It is also excellent accurate, fast and a well-calculated six-speed manual transmission that adapts the narrow range of engine torque of a diesel engine to almost any situation in which the Mondeo finds itself.

When I decided to review the lists of standard and optional equipment for the final assessment of the effectiveness of the surcharge for the Sport package, I found that the prestigious Ghia equipment package is a better choice. Namely, the latter enables an additional payment for "sports" accessories and at the same time is already equipped as standard with some other accessories, which are optional at Sport. When I decided on the Mondeo 2.0 TDCi with 130 "horsepower" and loaded it with both packages (Ghia and Sport) and paid extra for the "missing" equipment in each, I found that the "sporty" Mondeo Ghia is cheaper. Instead of 6 million tolars, as much as the Mondeo Sport costs, you will pay "only" 5 million tolars for the prestigious Mondeo, or 5, if you also think of leather seats.

A comparison that undoubtedly tip the scales in Ghie’s favor. The best thing about this is that the sporty spirit of the Mondeo does not suffer in any way.
