Take the smallest Kaia, for example. The toddler is cute and also provides an excellent road position, but unfortunately, behind the wheel there is not even a hint of Ford success on the racetracks. The reason is, of course, well known: the engine is too weak. And although better times await him this year, we can still ask ourselves if 1 liter of volume and 6 "horses" is really enough for the little Ka to now boast the Sportka label all over the world.

Even sadder is the Fiesta story. The most powerful engine you can imagine is a 1 liter engine that can only produce 6 more horsepower than the Sportkaj. So not much for any sporting pleasures!

Only the Focus will impress true enthusiasts. If only they interfere with the RS code. But even before they decide to buy it, it's good to let them know that they're going to run into at least two problems. The first is, without a doubt, the price, since the car is in no way intended for mass consumption, and the second is that this model does not exist at all and will not be on sale. But there is an alternative! Namely, a slightly more civilian version of the Focus with the designation ST170. The new Mondeo ST220 also comes from this fleet. But make no mistake: ST is not a departmental label playing around with Ford with the development of sportier versions of civilian vehicles, but simply an acronym for sports technology.

It is not difficult to determine that this is true. Mondeo ST220 already by its appearance proves that it is not a racing car, but, first of all, a sports car. The spoiler on the rear lid is invisible, as are the chrome tailpipes at the rear, similar to the honeycomb grilles on the car's bumpers and grille. Front fog lights that can even decorate one of your home rooms. their appearance.

In a very similar tone, the sportiness is maintained in the interior as well. The dashboard remains unchanged, as does the gear lever, which also applies to the pedals and the four-spoke steering wheel. True, the chrome accessories and gauges on a white background generally exude a rather sporty character. The Recaro's front seats contribute to this as well, although they score much higher in the comfort section than in the sport section, and we shouldn't lose sight of the red leather they also wore on the rear bench and which they succeeded. cause a little extra aggression in this Mondeo.

But most of all, you will feel it when you start the engine. This time, Ford did not redesign the largest Monde engine, as in the previous ST200 model, but installed a 3-liter engine on its nose. This, for obvious reasons, was not redone, since it would be completely pointless. So they borrowed it from the smallest X-Type Jaguar. But he still did not pass by the engine tuning shop. If we take a closer look at the technical data of both engines (one in the X-Type and one in the Mondeo ST0), we quickly find that some horsepower was lost, so the maximum power range was closer to 220 and almost the same amount of torque. pushed to a range of 6000 rpm. A larger refrigerator and a more powerful water pump were added to the unit, and special attention was paid to the exhaust system. The engine declares that these statements are not false, already at idle speed. However, the symphony of ear care increases with the speed.

But still: the Mondeo ST220 is not a racing car. The feel inside remained largely limousine-like. The precision gearbox ensures equally long strokes. As we already wrote, the rest of the interior of the most powerful Mondeo has remained virtually unchanged. However, such an excellent chassis has already undergone some modifications. And if you manage to find a road that matches the Monde's wheelbase, trust me, you won't be disappointed. The steering is surprisingly precise, the road position is excellent, the motor performance is expected to be sporty, and the brakes handle it all well too.

Therefore, there is no doubt: the label ST or Sport Technologies in this case is fully justified. Only the necessary additional comfort was somewhat forgotten in Ford. For this price, competitors can offer much more nobility.
