Ford announces second electric pickup truck

The F-150 Lightning mass production launch ceremony was held at the Ford Rouge Electric Vehicle Center with hundreds of guests. However, the icing on the cake at the event was Jim Farley's announcement and plans to launch a second EV pickup truck, which could be the Ford Ranger.

The Ford F-150 Lightning production start livestream has ended, and while there wasn't much new or groundbreaking information about the truck itself, Ford CEO Jim Farley did drop a little bit of information in his keynote. There is probably an EV Ranger. on my way.

"We're already pushing through the dirt in Blue Oval City in Tennessee for another electric pickup truck that's different from this one," Farley said.

This means that another Ford EV truck is already in development.

According to a Ford spokesman, the new electric vehicle "will be the next generation electric pickup truck, different from the F-150 Lightning." While we can't confirm if the new EV will be based on the Ranger or the Maverick, the smart money is in the Ranger.

Why everything points to it being a Ranger EV

It's all about the wording of the press secretary. They claimed it was the "next generation" truck. Maverick is still a new platform and there will be no platform updates or changes for a while. On the other hand, the Ranger is going to be overhauled in the near future. If they already have plans for a second EV truck, that would mean it's coming sooner rather than later, just like the next generation Ranger.

predicted success

It will likely sell for quite a lot, given that Ford can't make enough cars right now.

Farley also teased "an extended cast you haven't seen yet". So EV Maverick is still not ruled out.

Ford plans to challenge Tesla

Electric cars are a game of sorts for the future of the Ford Motor Company. By the end of next year, according to Farley, the company will produce about 600,000 electric vehicles a year. In just four years, this number will grow to more than .

“We plan to challenge Tesla and all stakeholders to become the world's leading electric vehicle manufacturer. Just two years ago, no one would have believed about us,” Farley said.

Farley now says the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center, where the Lightning is built, can produce up to 150,000 trucks a year. The plant has been expanded twice in preparation for a full ramp-up of EV pickup truck production. The land on which the Rouge plant is located has been home to Ford manufacturing for more than years, starting with the Model A.
