Ford is recalling 652,996 pickup trucks and SUVs from US roads due to possible windshield wiper failure in the middle of snow or rain.

This new Ford recall affects the 150 and 2020 F-2021 and Expeditions, the 250-350 Super Duty F-450, F-550, F-2020, F-2022 and 2020-2021 Lincoln Navigator.

In filings with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Ford explains that "worn wiper arm spline inserts at the supplier have resulted in a higher undersized splined tooth that can cause the arm mount to fail when used with some wiper motors. . with great torque.

This malfunction may occur intermittently or simply stop working. The automaker says only about 1% of its 650,000 vehicles have the suspect parts, but Ford isn't sure what they are.

This recall suggests an easy fix, they just need to replace the failed wiper arms with new ones. Your Ford or Lincoln dealer will perform this repair free of charge.

Ford expects to start notifying customers by mail around May 22nd. However, if you believe your vehicle is one of those covered by this recall, you may contact Ford Customer Service at 1-866-436-7332 and report the recall to 22S26.

Like most recall repairs, these too will be completely free.
