Ford Ranger – world premiere and first photos in Poland

Two weeks before the official presentation, we had the opportunity to see the new version of the legendary Ford pickup, which will soon appear on our market. You can feel like a Texas security guard in it, especially since they put a more powerful diesel engine with a Common Rail injection system under the hood, and when buying a car for a company, you can deduct all VAT.

Ford is associated in Poland with popular models of cars and vans. Few people know that in America this manufacturer has for many years been the leader among manufacturers of pickup trucks, a popular mode of transport on the other side of the ocean. They are supposed to be used for work and on roads of not very good quality. For many people, driving this type of car is the greatest pleasure.

At first glance, a huge hood and large grille dominate the front of the car. Meanwhile, protruding wheel arches help protect the body from minor damage, and a split front bumper with integrated fog lamps protects well when driving off-road.

Changed cabin

The interior of the latest Ford Ranger is different from its predecessor. Armchairs received wider backs to better hold the body, and large headrests. The central place on the dashboard is now occupied by an information display, on which the driver can read the most important parameters related to the operation of the car. The center console is finished in an eye-catching silver hue, while shiny chrome accents also appear on the dash, air vents, shift knob, power window controls and interior door handles.

There are many useful storage compartments in the cabin, including a special drawer that slides out of the dashboard for documents, invoices, etc., which is installed in a car of this category for the first time, and many other small things.

All versions of the new Ford Ranger are equipped with a radio with an in-dash CD player that can also play MP3 files. The top-of-the-line Limited has a CD player with a 6-disc changer in the dash and additional speakers.

New 2,5-litre common rail diesel engine

The new Ranger is powered by a new Duratorq TDCi 2,5-litre common rail diesel engine. The engine produces 143 hp. (predecessor 109 hp) and has a higher torque - 330 Nm at 1,8 thousand rpm (the predecessor has 226 Nm at 2 rpm), and at the same time it should consume less fuel and be much quieter his predecessor. By using a variable turbine guide vane (VGT) turbocharger in the engine, it was possible to achieve faster starting and a wider range of useful torque, as well as to reduce the phenomenon of turbocharger lag when adding gas. The standard gearbox is a 5-speed Durashift gearbox.

Fording depth 450 mm, ground clearance 205 mm, approach angle 32 degrees, departure angle 21 degrees, ramp angle 28 degrees, roll angle 29 degrees. The length of the car is from 5075 5165 to 1205 1745 mm (Limited), width (excluding mirrors) 3000 12,6 mm, and height 2280 1256 mm. The wheelbase is 1092 mm and the turning radius is 457 m. The load compartment is mm long and mm wide (mm between the wheel arches). The box has a depth of mm and a loading height of mm.

Standard safety equipment includes ABS, acting on all wheels, front gas airbags and seat belts with pretensioners. Side airbags for the front seats and child seat anchors are available as an option.

From PLN 72 to 110 thousand net

Prices start at 72 thousand. PLN net for XL version with one cab. The XL version with an extended cab costs 82 thousand. PLN net, but with a double door, i.e. with two doors, 90 thousand. net zloty. In the case of a double cab (version in the photo), you can also choose more equipped XLT versions for 101,5 thousand. PLN net and Limited for PLN 109,5 thousand net. The latter have as standard, among other things, side airbags, air conditioning (XL has a surcharge of PLN 4 net), a leather steering wheel and gear knob, door sills, velor or leather upholstery, a chrome grille, fog lights and aluminum wheels.

The Top Limited also has a set of off-road indicators (pictured), footwell lights, reversing sensors and chrome door handles. Items are not available in other versions. The hardtop construction costs 7,5 thousand. PLN net, hook 2 thousand PLN and allows towing a trailer without brakes weighing 750 kg or with brakes weighing up to 3 tons.
