Ford Ranger Raptor 2022. Engine, equipment, cross-country ability Ford introduces the all-new Ranger Raptor pickup truck with a 3-liter twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 engine that develops 288 hp. and maximum torque of 491 Nm. The all-new Raptor is the first next generation Ranger to arrive in Europe.

The next generation Ranger Raptor developed by Ford Performance is an advanced version of the new Ranger. Deliveries to customers will begin in the last quarter of 2022. On the market, the car is in a segment including Isuzu D-Max, Nissan Navara and Toyota Hilux.

Ford Ranger Raptor. More power

Die-hard performance enthusiasts will be thrilled by the introduction of the all-new 3-litre EcoBoost V6 petrol engine, engineered by Ford Performance to produce 288 hp. and 491 Nm of torque.

Ford Ranger Raptor 2022. Engine, equipment, cross-country abilityThe 6-litre twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V75 engine block is made from vermicular cast iron, which is about 75 percent stronger and XNUMX percent stiffer than regular cast iron. Ford Performance has ensured that the engine reacts immediately to changes in throttle position, and a race-car-derived turbocharger system, similar to that first used in the Ford GT and Focus ST cars, provides a "turbo-port" response to the gas. and an immediate increase in power.

Available in Baja mode, this system holds the throttle open for three seconds after the driver releases the accelerator pedal, allowing for faster power return when pressed again at corner exit or after a gear change. What's more, for each of the gears of the advanced 10-speed automatic transmission, the engine is programmed with an individual boost profile, which also improves performance.

The driver can select the desired engine sound by pressing a button on the steering wheel or by selecting a driving mode that uses one of the following settings:

  • quiet – puts silence above performance and sound, allowing you to maintain good relations with neighbors if the Raptor owner uses the car in the early morning hours
  • Normal - A sound profile designed for everyday use, offering an expressive exhaust sound, but not too loud for everyday street driving. This profile is used by default in Normal, Slippery, Mud/Ruts, and Rock Crawling drive modes.
  • Sports – offers a louder and more dynamic exhaust note
  • Low – the most expressive exhaust system soundtrack, both in terms of volume and sound. In Baja mode, the exhaust behaves like an uncompromisingly built cruising system. This mode is for field use only.

The current 2-liter twin-turbo diesel engine will continue to be available in the new Ranger Raptor from 2023 – specific market details will be available prior to the vehicle's launch.

Ford Ranger Raptor. For off-road driving

Ford Ranger Raptor 2022. Engine, equipment, cross-country abilityFord engineers have completely redesigned the wheel suspension. New high-strength yet lightweight aluminum upper and lower control arms, longer travel front and rear suspensions, and improved Watt cranks are designed to provide better vehicle control over rough terrain at high speeds.

The new generation of 2,5" FOX® shocks with internal Live Valve bypass feature a state-of-the-art control system with position-sensing damping. The 2,5" shocks are the most advanced of their kind ever fitted to the Ranger Raptor. They are filled with Teflon™ enriched oil, which reduces friction by about 50 percent compared to the shocks used in the previous generation model. Although these are FOX® components, Ford Performance did customization and development using computer-aided design and real-world testing. Everything from spring adjustments to suspension height adjustments, valve fine tuning and cylinder sliding surfaces are designed to achieve the perfect balance between comfort, handling, stability and excellent traction on asphalt and off-road.

The Live Valve internal bypass system, which works in conjunction with the Ranger Raptor's improved driving modes, has been enhanced to provide better on-road comfort and higher off-road performance at both high and low speeds. In addition to working with different driving modes, the suspension system has the ability to work in the background to prepare the car for changing driving conditions. When the damper is compressed, different zones in the valve bypass system provide the support needed for a given stroke, and vice versa when the dampers are rebounded to full height.

To protect against the effects of a serious crash after a pickup has landed, the race-proven FOX® Bottom-Out Control system delivers maximum damping force in the last 25 percent of shock travel. In addition, the system can strengthen the rear shock absorbers so that the Ranger Raptor does not wobble under hard acceleration, maintaining the car's high stability. With shock absorbers that deliver the right amount of damping force in any position, the Ranger Raptor ensures stability both on the road and on the track.

The Ranger Raptor's ability to handle rough terrain is also enhanced by rugged undercarriage covers. The front pad is nearly twice the size of the standard next-generation Ranger and is made from 2,3mm thick high-strength steel. This plate, combined with the engine skid plate and transmission cover, is designed to protect key components such as the radiator, steering, front cross member, oil pan and front differential. Dual tow hooks front and rear make it easy to get your car out of rough terrain. Their design allows access to one of the hooks if access to the other is difficult, and also allows the use of belts when recovering a car from deep sand or thick mud.

Ford Ranger Raptor. Permanent drive 4×4

Ford Ranger Raptor 2022. Engine, equipment, cross-country abilityFor the first time, the Ranger Raptor gets an upgraded permanent all-wheel drive system with an all-new two-speed electronically controlled transfer case linked to lockable front and rear differentials.

Seven selectable ride modes, including Baja mode, which tunes the vehicle's electronics for maximum performance during high-speed off-road driving, help the new Ranger Raptor handle any type of surface, from slick roads to mud and ruts.

Each driver-selectable driving mode adjusts a range of elements, from engine and transmission to ABS sensitivity and calibration, traction and stability control, exhaust valve actuation, steering and throttle response. In addition, the gauges, vehicle information and color schemes on the instrument cluster and center touchscreen change depending on the selected driving mode.

Road driving modes

  • Normal mode – driving mode calibrated for comfort and low fuel consumption
  • Sports mode (Sport) – adapted to dynamic off-road driving
  • Slippery mode - used for more confident driving on slippery or uneven surfaces

Off-road driving modes

  • climbing mode – provides optimal control when driving at very low speeds on extremely rocky and uneven terrain
  • Sand driving mode – adjusting shifting and power delivery to suit the needs of driving in sand or deep snow
  • Mud/rut mode – Ensuring maximum grip when moving off and maintaining a sufficient supply of torque
  • Lower Mode – all vehicle systems are tuned for maximum performance for peak performance in high-speed off-road conditions

The next generation Ranger Raptor also features Trail Control™, the equivalent of off-road cruise control. The driver simply selects a preset speed below 32 km/h and the car takes care of acceleration and deceleration while the driver concentrates on driving the vehicle on rough terrain.
