Ford is withdrawing about 184,698 F- pickups from the market.

The Ford F-150 recall will involve dealers, necessary repairs and adjustments will be completely free, and owners will be notified as of January 31, 2022.

American automaker Ford is recalling about 184,698 150 F-2021 pickup trucks due to a potential defect that could lead to driveshaft failure.

The problem with recalled trucks is heat buildup under the body, which can touch the aluminum driveshaft, damaging the driveshaft and eventually causing it to fail.

Damage to the propeller shaft can result in loss of transmission power or loss of control of the vehicle upon contact with the ground. Also, it can cause unintentional movement when the vehicle is parked without the parking brake applied.

Affected F-150s include all-wheel drive Crew Cab models with a 145" wheelbase and only those integrated with equipment group 302A and above. Less equipped F-150s are not equipped with damaged insulators.

Ford recommends that owners of these trucks locate a loose or dangling underbody insulator and remove or position it so that it does not hit the axle. Another possible sign is a knocking, clicking or screeching noise coming from the vehicle.

So far, Ford has found 27 broken driveshafts on 150-2021 F-2022s suffering from this problem.

Dealers will inspect and repair the driveshaft to resolve the issue. They will also make the necessary adjustments to properly attach the bass isolators. Both repairs will be free of charge and owners will be notified by mail from January 31, 2022.
