Maritime Security Forum, i.e. January declarations on the future of the Navy.

The beginning of this year was full of declarations, speeches and official presentations on the technical modernization of the Polish Navy. The Maritime Security Forum, organized in Warsaw on January 14, was of particular importance, as for the first time an open discussion about the Polish navy took place in the presence of politicians. He showed, among other things, that shipboard programs will continue, the concept of "Baltic +" and the approach to broadly understood maritime security will change.

The most important statements were made at the Forum on Safety at Sea (FBM) organized on 14 January this year. in Warsaw by the Naval Academy and the Warsaw Exhibition Office SA. They were important because FBM was visited by a large group of politicians and government officials, including: Deputy Head of the National Security Bureau Jarosław Brysiewicz, Chairman of the Parliamentary Defense Committee, Michal Jah, Deputy Secretary of State at the Ministry of National Defense Tomasz Szatkowski, Deputy State Secretary Secretary at the Ministry of Maritime Economy and Inland Navigation Krzysztof Kozlowski and Deputy Director of the Security Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Michal Miarka. A large group of military personnel also participated in the FBM, including the head of the Armaments Inspectorate of the Ministry of Defense, Brig. Adam Duda, Navy Inspector at the Main Command of the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces Marian Ambrosiak, commander of the Naval Operations Center - Naval Component Command Vadm. Stanislav Zaryhta, Commander of the Marine Border Service, cadmium. S.G. Petr Stotsky, rector-commandant of the Naval Academy, commander prof. doctor hab. Tomasz Schubricht, commander of the 3rd cadmium ship flotilla. Miroslav Mordel and the representative of the P5 Strategic Planning Council of the General Staff of the Polish Army, Commander Jacek Ohman.

The domestic and foreign arms industry also had its representatives at FBM. Representatives: Remontowa Shipbuilding SA from Gdansk and Remontowa Nauta SA from Gdynia, shipbuilding concerns - French DCNS and German TKMS and companies offering weapons systems, including Polish companies: ZM Tarnów SA, PIT-RADWAR SA, KenBIT Sp.j ., WASKO SA and OBR Centrum Techniki Morskiej SA, as well as foreign ones: Kongsberg Defense Systems, Thales and Wärtsilä France.

End of the concept "Baltika +"

The change in approach to the Baltic + strategy, generated by the previous leadership of the NSS, was noticeable in the statements of almost every politician. It is not yet known how this will be expressed in the shape of future ship programs, but it can be assumed that the area of operations of the Polish Navy will not be limited only to the Baltic Sea, and the tasks of naval forces will be typical military operations.

This was especially evident in the speech of the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Michal Miarka, who clearly outlined other tasks of the ships, including their political and diplomatic missions. Thus, for the first time in many years, it was officially recognized that the Polish Navy was needed to fulfill the tasks of not only the Ministry of Defense.

In its current activities, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs began to realize the importance of the global maritime transport system, recognizing that, due to the broadly understood globalization, Poland should be an integral part of it: … Poland's long-term development and security depend on the quality and extent of Poland's integration into global maritime communications, economic exchange and regional integration activities with Europe. Therefore, despite the fact that European countries are our largest recipient, our reserves are elsewhere, reserves further ... across the ocean - in East and South Asia and Africa. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in order to increase (in accordance with government assumptions) the share of exports in GDP from 45 to 60%, Poland should be more closely integrated into the world economy, and this also requires the provision of new capabilities to the Polish Navy. According to Miarka, the current energy security policy depends on the security of maritime communication lines. Only it will ensure a constant supply of goods and raw materials to Poland, including, in particular, gas and crude oil. ZBlocking the Strait of Hormuz is just as important from an economic point of view as blocking the Danish Straits. We must think about the Baltic Sea, because no one will do it for us. But we cannot think only of the Baltic Sea. Miara said.
