Gas installation – does gas installation mean savings?

Drivers' opinions about gasoline in cars differ. Some people believe that LPG installation should not be installed on sports cars. Others claim that the gas is good for stoves. On the other hand, all satisfied users of gasoline in cars, which, thanks to this, have significant savings. Who is right? Get to know the types of gas installations in cars and see if LPG is worth choosing!

Gas installations - gas car - profit or additional costs?

Gas installation - does gas installation mean savings?

There is no definite answer to this question. On the one hand, you can get tangible benefits. Undoubtedly, a properly operated and regularly maintained LPG installation provides the user with benefits that are mainly visible during refueling. On the other hand, any careless assembly and inattention during operation can have a devastating effect on the durability of engine components. Thus, it can be said that both supporters and opponents have rational arguments to prove their point of view.

Gas installations and their types

There are 5 groups of HBO installations:

  • XNUMX generation;
  • XNUMXth generation;
  • XNUMXth generation;
  • XNUMXth generation;
  • XNUMXth generation.

The division itself explains little, because it shows only a certain evolution of the system. So what are the different types?

XNUMX generation

No electronic sensors. Its job is to mix the gas in volatile form with air in a mixer. Mainly used in cars with carburetor system. The least thrifty of all.

XNUMX generation

The system is mainly used in vehicles with single point injection. The control system measures and doses the amount of mixture sent to the combustion chamber.

XNUMX generation

Vapor phase gas injection system. In this generation, the mixer is eliminated, and the place of origin of the dose is similar to the original with gasoline. This HBO installation was used in engines with multipoint injection and with mechanical gasoline injection.

XNUMX generation

This is the so-called sequence. The gas in the volatile phase is fed into the gas injection rail after pre-treatment in the filtration system. This type of LPG gas plant is the most popular on the market.. There are practically no differences in dynamics in relation to fuels.

XNUMX generation

The most modern type of gas injection, for which petrol injectors are used. The gas itself is supplied in the liquid phase. The injection sequence is computer controlled. Excess unused gas goes into the tank. This is the solution that distinguishes the XNUMXth generation from all other types of installations.

Gas installation on a car - which one to choose?

Gas installation - does gas installation mean savings?

A lot depends on your car's engine and how it's fueled. The LPG installation must be selected by a person skilled in the art. He will make the relevant parts such as reducer and injectors and then assemble the HBO system in the car. In vehicles with indirect injection (i.e. with gasoline injectors that supply a dose of gas to the intake manifold), IV generation gas is most often installed. On the other hand, the fifth generation is reserved mainly for gasoline direct injection vehicles.

LPG gas installations - engine power and installation cost

Gas installation - does gas installation mean savings?

The price of installing HBO is primarily affected by the number of cylinders in the engine. Standard 4-cylinder units without a turbocharger can be supplemented with gas at a price not exceeding PLN 2. For installation on an engine with a turbine or with more than 4 cylinders, you will have to pay extra. Popular V6 engines usually require components that cost between PLN 3 and PLN 3,5. These prices are valid for the XNUMXth generation.

Gas installation - does gas installation mean savings?

The most modern installations are by far the most expensive, but they provide the best work culture. It is estimated that the installation of a 4th generation HBO in a 4-cylinder engine will cost PLN 4,5 thousand. The more cylinders in the engine, the more expensive it is, and there is nothing strange in this. Remember that the final cost is also related to:

  • the level of complexity of the work;
  • selection of suitable components;
  • Your wishes are taken into account by the installer.

How much you pay for the installation also depends on the reputation of the workshop where you will carry it out, as well as the quality of the subsequent service.

Gas installation - is it worth installing?

Gas installation - does gas installation mean savings?

In this case, you don't have to rely on guesswork. You can just count. If you cover long distances during the year and your car has a big appetite for fuel, then a gas installation is sure to quickly pay for itself. To be sure, use one of the gas return calculators. However, there are engines that do not work well on LPG because they have thin valve seats, for example. Installing gas in such a unit is asking for trouble. Burnout sockets and the need to repair the head entail costs that are disproportionate savings.

Is it worth it to install HBO? Installations are costs that pay off only after some time. Sometimes a gas installation will pay off so slowly that it is simply not worth spending money on it. In addition, there are the costs of more expensive checks and the impact on the price of liability insurance. However, if you find a good workshop and cover long distances a year, you will certainly be satisfied with the installation of HBO.
