Gas installation: assembly cost and terms for the return of car samples

Whether fuel prices rise or fall, gasoline is half the price of gasoline or diesel. This week, according to e-petrol.pl analysts, autogas should cost PLN 2,55-2,65/l. For unleaded gasoline 95, the predicted price is PLN 5,52-5,62/l, and for diesel fuel - PLN 5,52-5,64/l.

At such prices, it is not surprising that more and more drivers decide to install HBO on their cars. Increasingly, these are owners of cars ten years old and younger. The engines of these vehicles require the installation of installations of the third and fourth generation, the so-called. consistent.

“They are more expensive than second-generation units, but they guarantee the correct operation of the engine,” emphasizes Wojciech Zielinski from Awres in Rzeszow, which specializes in the installation and maintenance of liquefied petroleum gas.

The sequential system for supplying gas to each cylinder is similar to a gasoline injector. This allows, among other things, to reduce gas consumption by 5 percent.

Increasingly, new car manufacturers are choosing to install a gas installation at the factory or at authorized service centers. Such cars are offered by brands such as Chevrolet, Dacia, Fiat, Hyundai and Opel.

Since used cars are more popular, we checked on the example of six cars how much money you need to prepare for installing LPG and how long the investment will pay off. We assumed that gas consumption would be about 15 percent higher. than gasoline. Importantly, in a car equipped with a sequential installation, the engine starts on gasoline. It runs on this fuel until it warms up. Therefore, when running on liquefied gas, the car also uses gasoline. As the mechanics emphasized, these are small amounts - about 1,5 percent. normal fuel consumption. We took this into account when calculating.

We did not take into account maintenance costs, since the car requires maintenance and repair, regardless of what fuel it runs on. But we checked how much this extra service costs. In the case of a series installation, every 15 it is necessary to review, analyze the software that controls the entire system, and replace the gas filters. It costs PLN 100-120.

When deciding on a gas installation, you must also keep in mind the higher maintenance costs. The owner of a car running on traditional fuel - both gasoline and diesel - pays PLN 99 for it. Drivers of vehicles running on liquefied gas must pay PLN 161 for the technical inspection.

The disadvantage of diesel engines is their sensitivity to low-quality fuel. They often require costly repairs to the injection system. Drivers also complain about diesel particulate filters, turbochargers and expensive dual-mass clutches.

Gas installation: assembly cost and terms for the return of car samples

Fiat Punto II (1999-2003)

The most popular gasoline engine is the 1,2 eight-valve unit with 60 hp. A car can be purchased on the secondary market for about PLN 8-9 thousand. zloty. Requires the assembly of a serial installation of about PLN 2300.

Gasoline consumption: 9 l / 100 km (PLN 50,58)

Diesel fuel consumption (engine 1.9 JTD 85 KM): 7 l / 100 km (PLN 39,41)

Gas consumption: 11 l / 100 km (PLN 29,04)

Modification cost: PLN 2300

Saving gasoline-gas per 1000 km: PLN 215,40

Reimbursement of expenses: 11 thousand. km

Volkswagen Golf IV (1997-2003 year)

Drivers for transferring to LPG often choose a 1,6 engine with a power of 101 hp. The price of a used VW Golf from the start of production is around PLN 9-10 thousand. zloty. Requires the assembly of a serial installation of about PLN 2300. In cars manufactured after 2002, the price can be about PLN 200-300 higher (due to more expensive electronics).

Gasoline consumption: 10 l / 100 km (PLN 56,20)

Diesel fuel consumption (engine 1.9 TDI 101 hp): 8 l / 100 km (PLN 45,04)

Gas consumption: 12 l / 100 km (PLN 31,68)

Modification cost: 2300-2600 PLN

Saving gasoline-gas per 1000 km: PLN 245,20

Reimbursement of expenses: 11 thousand. km

Honda Accord VII (2002-2008)

In the secondary market, we will buy a well-maintained model with a 2,0 hp 155 petrol engine. for about 23-24 thousand zlotys. zloty. For the machine to work well on gas, a sequential installation of advanced electronics is required for about PLN 2600-3000.

Gasoline consumption: 11 l / 100 km (PLN 61,82)

Diesel fuel consumption (engine 2.2 i-CTDI 140 hp): 8 l / 100 km (PLN 45,04)

Gas consumption: 13 l / 100 km (PLN 34,32)

Modification cost: 2600-3000 PLN

Saving gasoline-gas per 1000 km: PLN 275

Reimbursement of expenses: 11 thousand. km

Citroen Berlingo II (2002-2008)

You can buy a car in this version for about 10-12 thousand. zloty. It is very popular with economical and durable 1,6 and 2,0 HDI diesel engines. But an interesting alternative for them is a 1,4 petrol unit with a power of 75 hp, supported by a gas installation. To prevent the car from giving unpleasant surprises, you should invest in a sequential system with more advanced electronics. Wojciech Zielinski estimates the cost of the refurbishment at around PLN 2600.

Gasoline consumption: 10 l / 100 km (PLN 56,20)

Diesel fuel consumption (engine 2.0 HDi 90 hp): 8 l / 100 km PLN 45,04)

Gas consumption: 12 l / 100 km (PLN 31,68)

Modification cost: PLN 2600

Saving gasoline-gas per 1000 km: PLN 245,20

Reimbursement of expenses: 11 thousand. km

Mercedes E-Class W210 (1995-2002)

In addition to a wide range of "eyepiece" diesel units, you can also buy interesting gasoline engines. This, for example, is a 3,2-liter V6 with a capacity of 224 hp. Due to the great appetite for fuel, many drivers convert such cars to gas. Only serial installation is possible, and since the engine has two additional cylinders, the cost will be much higher. Mainly due to additional injectors and an extensive electronic system.

Gasoline consumption: 17 l / 100 km (PLN 95,54)

Diesel fuel consumption (engine 2.9 TD 129 hp): 9 l / 100 km (PLN 50,67)

Gas consumption: 19 l / 100 km (PLN 50,16)

Modification cost: PLN 3000

Saving gasoline-gas per 1000 km: PLN 453,80

Reimbursement of expenses: 7 thousand. km

Jeep Grand Cherokee III (2004-2010)

This is one of the most popular cars in its class on the market. Many of these cars came to Poland from the USA. The Poles bought them mainly when the dollar was trading at a record low price, below 2 złoty. Although this model was equipped with a 3,0 CRD diesel engine, most cars have powerful gasoline engines under the hood. The 4,7 V8 235 hp version is very popular. Such a car can be bought for about 40 thousand. PLN, but switching to gas with its fuel appetite is actually a necessity. A suitable sequential installation and a large 70 liter gas tank will cost around PLN 3800.

Gasoline consumption: 20 l / 100 km (PLN 112,40)

Diesel fuel consumption (engine 3.0 CRD 218 km): 11 l / 100 km (PLN 61,93)

Gas consumption: 22 l / 100 km (PLN 58,08)

Modification cost: PLN 3800

Saving gasoline-gas per 1000 km: PLN 543,20
