Lifan Solano does not start, what is the reason?

Let's start with a malfunction when the starter does not turn. Here everything is simpler than a steamed turnip.

If you do not hear the operation of the electromagnetic relay, we check whether + is applied to the black and yellow wire when the ignition key is turned on. Best to check at the contact point on the starter solenoid relay. Getting there is not easy, but possible. The Lifan Solano starter is located on the far side of the engine, under the intake manifold.

Check all fuses, see instruction manual for fuse assignment. First, look at the two 30 amp fuses on the cabin fuse box. In Solano, to see the mounting block, you have to put your head on the driver's carpet and look up.

These fuses provide ignition. When they burn out, not only the starter does not work, so if everything works, then the reason is clearly not in them.

If there is no more retractor relay in the wire, and the fuses are intact, then the reason is in an unreliable wire and contacts, or in the ignition switch. In this case, you need to check for a positive on this wire directly at the ignition switch.

If the electromagnetic relay works, but the starter does not turn. Scratched brushes could grind off, which was eliminated by removing the starter and replacing the brush assembly. You should check for positive voltage on the red wire going to the starter from the battery. This cable goes directly from the battery to the starter, but through the contacts on the mounting block under the hood!

These very contacts sometimes burn, remove the cover of the mounting block and check for traces of wire melting.

Another reason why the starter does not work is the lack of ground in the engine. The negative wire is screwed to the front of the gearbox, be sure to check the reliability of its fastening and the quality of the contact. It is better to unscrew the oxidized contacts, clean and tighten again.

The starter turns but the engine does not start

This also happens, here the troubleshooting goes in a slightly different direction. First of all, of course, sparks and fuel supply are checked. Vlifan Solano, the operation of the fuel pump can be blocked by the standard security system. Listen carefully, can you hear the fuel pump running when you turn on the ignition?

If not, try arming and disarming the car again with a regular key. If it does not help, in extreme cases, you can turn off the blocking of the fuel pump. To do this, remove the heater control unit. To do this, on the Lifan Solano, you need to remove the “under the tree” trim and unscrew the two bolts. Everything else is fastened with snaps.

Below it is the BCM (Body Electronics Control Module). For convenience, it is better to remove it, it is mounted on two turnkey bolts at "8". Three connectors are connected to the block: a long one at the top and two small ones at the bottom. We need a white connector at the bottom.

In this connector we find a purple-green wire, this is a permissive plus for the operation of the fuel pump relay. Feel free to cut this wire near the connector. The cut wire going to the harness must be stripped and connected to the blue-green wire in the same connector. The blue-green wire is the wire that gets positive voltage when the ignition is turned on.

Everything, now the fuel pump will work regardless of the features and failures of the security system. Of course, the lock function will be lost if you try to start the car with the alarm not disabled.

Checking for spark and injector operation

If there is no spark, the engine will not start either. Checking the assertion is very simple, but you need a helper. Remove the rubber end of the spark plug high voltage wire and pull it out slightly. That is, you need to raise the tip above the candle by 5-7 mm, no more, otherwise, if the spark has nowhere to go, the ignition module or control transistors in the computer may burn out.

The tip rises and the assistant is asked to move the starter with the ignition key. If there is a spark, you will hear clear clicks in the candle well. Thus check up all four cylinders. If there is no spark, the cause may be in the high voltage wires or the ignition module.

On the injectors, you can only check plus 12v constantly supplied to the blue-red wire. With the ignition on, on this cable, each injector must have an on-board network voltage of + 12V. If not, check the fuses again.

A constant plus is supplied to the injectors when the ignition is turned on, through the fuse FS04 and the main relay. There is a fuse and relay on the mounting block under the hood. Their names are signed at the bottom of the cover, in English - main.
