GenZe – Mahindra electric scooter conquers the US market

The Indian Mahindra is poised to conquer the American market with GenZe, the 100 electric scooter, which goes on sale this fall in select states.

GenZe is equivalent to 50 cc. The removable 48 kWh lithium battery weighs 50 kg and can be charged in 1.6 hours and 13 minutes.

There are three driving modes available when in use, and all information related to the vehicle (range, speed, odometer, etc.) is visible on the large 7-inch screen.

A market to conquer

If the US scooter market is expected to exceed 45.000 units sold this year, the electric scooter segment will remain marginal with only about 5000 units sold.

Among Mahindra's preferred targets are university campuses and scooter sharing services. The manufacturer also received about 300 orders from customers who made an initial deposit of $100.

In its first year of existence, the Indian group has set an ambitious goal to sell around 3000 electric scooters across the country.

Coming soon in Europe?

Starting at $ 2.999 (€ 2700), Mahindra's GenZe electric scooter will go on sale this fall in California, Oregon and Michigan.

Its marketing can then be extended to other countries, but also to Europe, where the electric scooter market is around 30.000 annual sales.
