Giga Berlin "the world's largest cell manufacturing plant" with an annual production of 200-250 GWh cells

Elon Musk announced that Giga Berlin could in the future achieve computing power of "over 200, up to 250 GWh" of lithium-ion cells per year. And it is possible that it will become "the largest cell factory in the world." The dynamics of this announcement is evidenced by the fact that in 2019 all manufacturers produced about 250-300 GWh of cells.

World production is one thing. As recently as yesterday, we reported that the Vice President of the European Commission (EC) expects the European Union to become an autonomous battery in the automotive sector in 2025. This will come from factories producing what we estimate is 390 GWh of batteries. Meanwhile, Tesla would like to produce 250 GWh of cells in just one location near Berlin - we assume the European Commission vice president didn't include Musk's statement in the bills...

Initially, in 2021, Tesla's German factories should reach 10 GWh (announcement from Battery Day), then their processing capacity should increase to "over 100 GWh per year", and over time they can (but do not have to) even reach 250 GWh cells per year. Assuming the average battery capacity in Tesla is 85 kWh, 250 GWh of cells is enough to sell nearly 3 million vehicles annually..

By comparison, during Battery Day, we heard that Tesla (overall) wants to reach 2022 GWh in 100, and will reach 2030 GWh of cells in 3. In about a thousand years, Muska could become the largest car manufacturer in the world, producing tens of millions of cars a year.

However, 100 or 250 GWh cells per year in Giga Berlin will not appear on their own. Achieving this level is expected to require the Californian company to optimize processes and redesign automation components to ensure business continuity. It is worth adding that it looks like the factories near Berlin will only produce 4680 cells.
