City SUV from the practical side, i.e. functional and roomy

City SUV from the practical side, i.e. functional and roomy One of the reasons for the popularity of cars from the SUV segment is their functionality and versatility. Cars of this type have many solutions that are useful in everyday use. And besides, they are visually very attractive.

Design is one of the main criteria for choosing an SUV for many buyers. Cars in this segment are distinguished by an interesting body design, which makes them look light and dynamic. This applies, among other things, to urban SUVs - groups of cars that are slightly smaller than compact SUVs, but for the most part have the same advantages. On the other hand, they are ideal for city traffic.

For example, the driver has a better view because he sits higher than in a conventional car. It's also easier to get behind the wheel, as you don't have to lean too far to get into the cabin. The advantage of an urban SUV is also greater ground clearance and larger wheels. These benefits include the Skoda Kamiq, the brand's latest urban SUV. Ground clearance is approximately 18 centimeters and the smallest wheel size on the Kamiq is 16 inches. That is why this car is not afraid of such street obstacles as manholes, tram tracks and even curbs. The increased ground clearance will also be useful on gravel roads, for example, during a weekend trip out of town.

On the other hand, fans of more dynamic driving can opt for the optional Sports Chassis Control. It is 10mm lower than standard and has two settings to choose from: Normal and Sport. In the latter mode, the electronically adjustable dampers become stiffer. In addition, the user can adjust both settings in one of four driving profiles: Normal, Sport, Eco and Individual. The selected driving profile changes the operation of the electromechanical steering, engine and transmission.

However, let's get back to cities where parking problems often arise, whether in places along the streets, as well as in specially designated parking lots. The designers of Skoda Kamiq have foreseen this inconvenience and starting from the Ambition version, the car is equipped as standard with rear parking sensors, and in the Style version, front parking sensors are also included as standard. As an option, you can order Park Assist, which almost automatically helps the driver when parking. The driver can only control the gas and brake pedals, as well as the gear lever.

Another advantage of the SUV is the functionality of the cabin. And this is measured, including the number and capacity of internal storage compartments. There is no shortage of them in the Skoda Kamiq. In total, their capacity is 26 liters. For example, in the glove compartment there are special slots for credit cards and coins, and on the left side of the steering wheel there is a drawer for storing small items. Another storage compartment is located under the armrest between the front seats. There are also compartments under the seats. In turn, the front doors have special places for XNUMX-liter bottles, as well as compartments for reflective vests. And in the back door there are places for half-liter bottles. We also find storage compartments under the front seats and back pockets on the backs.

In an SUV, the trunk is of great importance. The volume of the luggage compartment of the Skoda Kamiq is 400 liters. By folding down the asymmetrically divided rear seatback (60:40 ratio), the luggage compartment can be increased to 1395 litres. The front passenger seat also folds down to store items up to 2447mm in length. This type of solution is not often found in SUVs.

In the Skoda Kamiq, you can also find: an umbrella compartment (with an umbrella) in the driver's door, a parking ticket holder on the inside of the windshield, an ice scraper to remove ice from the windows in the gas filler flap or a built-in funnel in the windshield washer fluid reservoir cap. These are seemingly small elements, but they have a big impact on the assessment of the functionality of the car.
