Toyota Light Duty Trucks

Toyota truck, Toyota Toyoace is one of the vehicles of the Japanese conglomerate, which has become popular and in demand not only in Asia, but also on all continents. In Australia, this truck is known as the Toyota 25 and in other regions as the Toyota Dyna. Its small size allows it to pass where heavy vehicles cannot maneuver. Toyota Toyoace and Dyna feel confident on rural roads and in dense city traffic.

A bit of history

The first Toyota trucks appeared in 1959. They were constantly modified, produced as vans with a regular and adjacent cab, pickup trucks, garbage trucks, dump trucks, refrigerators and, as usual, with short and long wheelbases. Minibuses and truck-based shuttles became popular.

The latest generation of these cars was introduced in 2011. They differ from their predecessors in an improved common rail engine. There are new cars with automatic transmissions, and the number of gears in a manual transmission has been increased to 6. In addition to models with conventional diesel engines, there are modifications with gasoline engines and LPG engines.

All Toyota Toyoace trucks are assembled only in Japan, while Toyota Dyna is made in Portugal and Taiwan.

Technical specifications

Front - leaf spring suspension with bushings and trunnions without silent blocks. The rear suspension is on leaf springs and reinforced with leaf springs. With this design, the carrying capacity of the car can be 3 tons. Practice has shown that in Russia it can withstand loads up to 5 tons.

Toyoace and Dyna trucks are divided into four groups:

• 1t - Cargo 1t;
• 2-ton - Cargo 2 t;
• dump trucks - dump;
• vans - van.

Front and rear wheels with low profile tires 225x60x17.5 mounted on 6 studs.

Low profile tires are not used to give the car an unusual appearance. This solves several problems:

• in the corner of a Toyota truck;
• if the front wheel comes off, it is much easier for the driver to hold the truck without causing an accident.

Rear drum type brakes; front brakes can be drum or disc.

The vehicle is designed for an on-board voltage of 24 V. Two small 12 V batteries are used. Large headlights provide good illumination.

The vacuum receiver is installed on the right side. It helps to depress the clutch and brake pedals.

The traditional diesel engine is a naturally aspirated 4-cylinder engine. Depending on the modification, the engine has a power of 105 to 180 hp. The power of gasoline engines installed since 2011 varies from 133 to 140 hp, and for liquefied gas - from 11 to 121 hp.

The engine is located under the driver's cab. This arrangement improves visibility and provides driver comfort. To gain access to the engine, simply release the locking mechanism located on the driver's door and effortlessly raise the cab. The whole procedure takes a few seconds.

Toyota truck engine

All Toyota vehicles are rear wheel drive. Transmission - five-speed gearbox.

The cab is tapered at the top, giving it a more streamlined shape and improved ergonomics. It is trimmed with velor and plastic. Inside, the driver and two passengers feel comfortable. There is nothing superfluous on the dashboard. Power windows and power mirrors are controlled by buttons on the door handle. Toyota trucks are equipped with a mountain brake, the switch of which is located on the multifunction steering wheel. The latest models are equipped with air conditioning. Driving a Toyota is not much different from driving a middle-class car.

The large windshield provides excellent visibility.

A distinctive feature of the Toyoace and Dyna is the grille, which gives the truck a perky "smiling" look.

Drivers love this truck for its reliability, durability, agility, fuel economy and versatile use. Truck repair does not require special equipment or tools. Repair most often comes down to replacing filters, oil, belts and adjusting the front suspension.

The disadvantage is the low ground clearance - 165 mm, which imposes restrictions on operation on Russian roads.

Since 2005, the Toyota Group has been working on a project whose main goal is to improve the production of light trucks. The Group's policy is to improve environmental performance. Toyota plans to sell its products in 140 countries. It is expected that the new trucks will be in the greatest demand in the Far Eastern regions of Russia.
