Dirty car? There is a penalty for this.

Dirty car? There is a penalty for this. During the winter, snow and snow build up on the roads. Many drivers are unaware of the dangers of driving with dirty windows or headlights.

Dirty car? There is a penalty for this.Frequent visits to the car wash can be inconvenient, which is why recent studies show that 9 out of 10 drivers drive with dirty headlights. Thus, they risk situations such as head-on collisions or collisions with a pedestrian. Such internships can be punished with a fine of PLN 500.

Safety issue

Dirty lights and windows impair visibility. In winter conditions, when melted snow mixed with salt settles on the windows and headlights of the car, visibility decreases with each subway passed. After driving 200 meters on a salted road, the efficiency of our headlights can be reduced by up to 60%, and visibility will decrease by 15-20%.

– Taking care of the cleanliness of your car is important, first of all, for the safety of yourself and other road users. We must regularly check whether there is dirt on the lamps. While at the gas station, we can take advantage of the moment when we refuel and wash the dirty headlights and windows, says Zbigniew Veseli, director of the Renault driving school.

Cleanliness Helps

A clean car is not only a good view for its driver. Also, other road users, due to the fact that our headlights shine with a bright, full light, can see our car from a much greater distance than with sediment or dirt deposited on the headlights.

“Properly working headlights make us visible from afar even on sunny days,” say Renault driving school instructors.

By keeping the headlights and windows cleaner to a greater extent, we can avoid too late reactions on the road and serious situations such as a head-on collision or collision with a pedestrian. In difficult weather conditions and with limited visibility, the driver has a chance to notice someone on the road from a distance of no more than 15-20 meters. In such a situation, there is usually not enough time to even start braking. That's why it's so important to keep windows and headlights clean at all times.

The costly consequences of not washing

When a police officer sees that the driver's visibility is limited due to dirty windows or headlights, he can stop such a vehicle, take it directly to the car wash and additionally check the condition of the washer fluid and check the efficiency of the wipers.

The driver must have good visibility, especially through the front and rear windows (if equipped), and keep the headlights clean, as they are also an important element of good visibility. Dirty windows, headlights or an illegible license plate can result in a fine of up to PLN 500.
