HBA - High beam assistant

The system installed by BMW in its vehicles is capable of improving visibility in driving conditions. It continuously adjusts the height of the light beam emitted by the headlights, ensuring optimal illumination at all times.

The HBA system "calibrates" the driving conditions around the vehicle and, if necessary, monitors the high beam of the vehicle itself. When the system is activated, an image sensor mounted on the inside of the front mirror monitors lighting and driving conditions. Using the captured images, the system can determine if a high beam is needed. In oncoming traffic, when there is another vehicle in front of you, or if the ambient light is strong enough, the HBA turns off the high beam.
