HHC (Hill Hold Control)

It was invented by the American car manufacturer Studebaker, who first used it in their cars in 1936.

HHC (Hill Hold Control)

The current system works on the basis of information from sensors that track the vehicle's tilt. If the system detects that the vehicle is on a hill and the driver depresses the clutch and brake pedals and engages first gear, it will instruct the braking system to ensure that the vehicle is not released when the brake pedal is released. ... Thus, the car does not move backwards, but waits for the clutch to be released. In fact, this is a basic principle, but each car manufacturer can configure this system in its own way, for example: that after releasing the pressure on the brake pedal, the brakes will remain, for example, another 1,5 or 2 seconds, and then completely release.
