Holden to get a killer Mazda CX-9? GM is working on a new massive three-row SUV

GM is reportedly working on a new full-size SUV that will sit below the Yukon (pictured).

GMC is working on a new three-row SUV that will sit above the Acadia but below the U.S. Yukon, potentially giving Holden a car that will outshine cars like the Mazda CX-9 in Australia.

Today's reports from the US confirm that GMC is looking to close the size gap between the Acadia, offered in Australia as the Holden, and the much larger Yukon.

This would sound like music to Holden's ears as SUVs are still in high demand in Australia. This is the market he plays in with the Acadia, a 4979mm seven-seater.

But in terms of sales, this car is inferior to the larger Mazda CX-9, which is 5075 mm long. The Japanese brand has replaced 4905 cars this year, compared to the 1917 Acadia that have found a home.

The US GM Authority website cites sources "familiar with GMC's future vehicles and product plans" as reportedly confirming plans to give the brand a new "full-size three-row SUV."

In the meantime, keep an eye on this space.
