Holden and HSV who? Mega GMSV Corvette Z06 unveiled - but will it come to Australia?

Corvette Z06 appeared in all its fire-breathing glory.

The GMSV could make a performance splash in Australia as parent company GM finally introduces the new - and truly fire-breathing - Chevrolet Corvette Z06 for the first time.

GMSV, the company formed when Holden (and therefore HSV) ended its operations in Australia, has already registered the Z06 trademark for our market. Unfortunately, that's all we have for now, as the brand's local spokesperson has stated that RHD production of the Z06 is unconfirmed.

However, we can hope, right?

So what do we hope for? The Z06 is a special edition Corvette with a track-focused equipment list and a powerful V8 engine that will elevate it to the highest level of supercars when it comes to power.

Its official launch will take place in the US on October 26th, so there's little speculation yet, but given that a camouflaged version of the Z06 was filmed - officially and unofficially - on the Nürburgring circuits, there's a lot of speculation. educated guesses make the rounds.

The Z06 is the first of several high-performance Corvette variants. American media reports that the track-oriented variant will be equipped with the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 engine in the history of the brand.

The 5.5-liter V8 is an offshoot of the brand's racing model and is rated at around 450kW, speeds up to 9000rpm redline and a deep operatic soundtrack that's sure to delight your neighbors.

You'll also get a star-changing version of the Corvette's Tremec eight-speed dual-clutch automatic, as well as a wider body, sportier Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires, the option of lightweight carbon fiber wheels, and some clever aerodynamics, including including what appears to be a wing that magically emerges from the body.
