Honda Accord Type-S - distraction from the world

Here, where I am, fine weather happens as often as agreement and unanimity in the deputy chairs on Wiejska Street. Clear skies are as rare a sight as the fin of a dolphin jumping out of a seething, choppy ocean… However, cloudy skies and almost daily heavier or heavier rain are rewarded with silence.

Real silence. The one in which a person can really hear thoughts beating between nerve cells, feel jumps of impulses between synapses, feel the beating of his own heart and pick up the sound of blood circulating in the veins between them.

It's beautiful, isn't it. And there is something else about this silence that fascinates me almost every time I experience it. Purity and perfection of sounds. Sounds that reach you faster than your eyes can catch their source.

I heard her first. It was still far away, I did not see it, but I already knew that I would like it. Walking along the coast of the Atlantic, listening to the sound of the waves and the sound coming from afar, hundreds of ideas were born and died at the same time as to which car this sound was coming from under the hood. I knew that I would like this car - it's impossible not to love a car that gives birth to such notes. I saw her - Honda, or rather Honda Accord Type S. When she stopped in the parking lot, I went up to the owner without hesitation and asked if he would mind if I looked at the car. What's more, Mark, a car owner with a passion for the Japanese marque, not only told me the history of this particular car, but also added to my knowledge with an unforgettable empirical experience during a half-hour drive along the winding roads of North-West Scotland. To be honest, I couldn't even drive this car for a second, but I think I got more of the Honda flair in the passenger seat.

0,26. Presented Accord, produced in the period from 2002 to 2008, boasts such an aerodynamic drag coefficient Cx, which in any case is one of the best results in its class. But the low Cx value is not the only attribute of the prestigious model of the Japanese concern.

A 2.4-liter engine with less than 200 hp, in my opinion, gives enough emotion. Many people say 192 hp, because that's the power of the Accord Type S, it's "only" 192 hp. And before the magical "200" a little, admittedly, a little, but still not enough.

However, what captivates me most about this car is the style, which is far from clichéd. Aggressive, bold and far from modest. Everything, literally every little thing, seems to be brought to perfection. From brightly colored headlights, bold chrome grille, subtle embossing on the bonnet, slim and dynamic side line, and finishing with beautiful aluminum wheels. Everything about this car seems perfect.

The interior design is also not much different from the standard version, equipped with the same engine. Well, maybe except for subtle accessories. Which? For example, the seat upholstery, trimmed with leather and Alcantara, is an unusual composition, but unexpectedly successful. One way or another, the very profiling of the chairs is the quintessence of the brand's motto - the Power of dreams - even ideal things are achievable, if only it is enough to want it and enough to strive for it. The carbon fiber accents on the dashboard are supposed to look sporty, but unfortunately they end up smelling like junk. A three-spoke steering wheel that not only looks aggressive, but also fits into the driver's hand like red paint for a sports Ferrari.

The clock itself and its configuration are not the most sophisticated. They may not be boring, but they certainly do not sin with extravagant innovations. The white backlight does not tire the eyes and from the point of view of strictly functionality it works undeniably well, but the layout is also a bit in the context of the brand's achievements with the symbol of the massive letter "H" on the hood. Honda rather insisted on the aggressive red color of the dials of its sports cars. Meanwhile, in the case of this Accorda Type S, a completely different strategy was chosen. Perhaps the Accord Type S is an athlete for the father of the family?

The 30 minutes that I had to spend in the passenger seat of this car gave answers to many questions. Firstly, I did not expect that physics would be screwed up like that. How? Well, the multi-link suspension design not only effectively and imperceptibly dampens surface irregularities, but also stiff enough to knock the car off the desired track requires a lot of effort. When making tight turns at speeds far in excess of those suggested on warning signs, we still have the belief that everything is under control. Even drivers who are uncomfortable in the role of passengers, like me, should not experience any discomfort - the suspension gives a great sense of security.

And now the engine: atmospheric, DOHC, sixteen-valve, less than 2.4 liters. Its sound after the pass 3.5 thousand km. rpm it gives goosebumps. The six-speed gearbox is light and precise, which encourages frequent gear changes. However, both Mark and I had the most fun using only the first three gears. Why? Because the sound of the unit working in the upper part of the tachometer acts on the human consciousness like a drug - you know that it will end badly (at the dispenser), but you still give up, because it is stronger than you.

One way or another, the sounds made by 192 KM are not everything - the thrust that goes hand in hand with them also matters. Test data, which we did not check due to lack of time, shows less than 8 seconds to 100 km/h and a top speed of almost 230 km/h. We have not tested either, but physical experience tells us that the numbers on paper do not lie. Sitting in a chair that fits the body perfectly, we feel the force with which the car bites into uneven asphalt. Amazing string. Moreover, the torque of 223 Nm is available at 4.5 thousand rpm leaves no illusions - a car in the wrong hands can be very dangerous.

Desires almost 200 hp cannot be underestimated. Even so, surprise turned into full understanding - an average fuel consumption of 10 liters with a very dynamic ride is an unexpectedly good result in terms of the car's capabilities. With very sharp handling of the accelerator pedal, the display of the computer shows values \u2b\u8bwith "9" in front without problems. However, according to Mark, the average car is content with 100 - XNUMX liters for every XNUMX km.

Another thing is the cost of living. Yes, the machine rarely requires specialist intervention, but if it does, the bill can make your heart beat faster. Especially if we decide to repair at an authorized service station - the prices for some parts can annoy even the most ardent fans of the brand.

30 minutes is really not enough. This is about as much as you need to make a casserole of zucchini, onions and bacon. This time it will take us more or less time to prepare a simple tomato soup. In half an hour, at a leisurely pace, we can walk 3000 m. Mi 30 minutes was enough to fall in love with another car - a Honda Accord. Honda Accord Type S.
