Honda CR-V 1.5 Turbo Executive + Navi // Enough Changes?

Pri Honda they say they didn't want to change too much the ace with which they won the not-so-famous championship over the past few years - CR-V was the best-selling mid-size SUV in the world. For such success, they should be thanked, first of all, for taking into account the wishes of American buyers, since the CR-V also occupies a leading position in its segment of sales in the United States. It is clear why: already in the third and fourth generations, his family orientation was formed. It was really spacious and in fact still quite understandable in size, not quite small, but (especially in the American sense) also not large.

The current generation also retained similar adjectives, focused primarily on maintaining a leading position among American consumers. Now it has grown a little and is 4,6 meters long., that is, seven centimeters longer than before, which is much wider (10 centimeters, that is, now 1,855 meters wide) and even 1,4 centimeters taller than its predecessor. It also has a 3-inch longer wheelbase. The increase in size was mainly aimed at increasing the cabin, which is now so large that a third row of seats can be added. Well, our test CR-V was just a five-seater, so now its user has a really large amount of space available for both rear-seat passengers and more luggage.

Because of the increased space, the new CR-V is now even more geared towards customers who need accentuated adjectives such as usability, spaciousness, functionality, family. The case has undergone so many changes that we can consider it completely new, also due to the fact that many parts are now made of stronger steel, but the basic version now gives the weights a cent more weight. The CR-V has certainly gone through some exterior changes, but it looks like Honda didn't want to put too much effort into it. The differences in details are quite large, but the overall shape of the car has certainly remained completely characteristic of this model. You can find a few more changes on the back. Of course, in the details we find many remarkable novelties, but the most important ones are hidden under the "crust". This applies, for example, to headlights that are already in the LED version (LED ), as well as other headlights (which the CR-V already offers as standard Comfort!).

The seats are of a pretty high standard, of course, but it should be noted that the seats are very comfortable too, although Honda points out that the CR-V is already half premium already and there really is no trace of that inside. Here we also notice first of all that they were aiming for really good usability. Thus, the management is already at the level of competitors, we no longer need to look for information in different places and in different ways than in the previous generation. Now control through the rather large center screen is already quite useful, the Elegance package already has a device for connecting smartphones via CarPlay or Android Auto connections. Well, some unusual cases have not been abandoned yet.

The user still has to "collaborate" with the information screen as it automatically dims.if we do not confirm its use immediately after starting the car. For those who give up their first attempts at starting a car, there is some support: it happens to the best! Yes, you will only be able to start the CR-V with a manual transmission if a few conditions for driver participation are met. The key must of course be in the lock, you must press the clutch and the brake (foot), but in addition, you must release the electric (hand) brake before starting, and you must do this carefully, because this operation 'can be very demanding. It seems that the Japanese are still unaware that for all the precautions that are understandable, little is needed to think about the user's patience, since there is no reason to take double precautions when using the brakes.

Honda CR-V 1.5 Turbo Executive + Navi // Enough Changes?

Honda has already dedicated a number of electronic assistants to the basic CR-V. Honda Sensing equipment includes collision mitigation, lane departure and tracking assistance, active cruise control with the addition of intelligent speed limits and traffic sign recognition. For a more transparent parking, a rear-view camera and parking sensors are useful. Add-on + Navi equipment is welcome, but Garmin's navigation system will not be as satisfying as Google's system if we connect the infotainment system via a smartphone, mainly due to direct contact with traffic data.

The fifth generation CR-V will provide those who have trusted Honda until now with much more modern accessories and increased passenger and luggage space, changing the generation. A little less for those looking for a little fun or for a more accentuated look. The 1,5-liter turbocharged petrol engine from the Honda Civic is disappointing., for serious buyers advice: wait for the plug-in hybrid, there will be no more diesel in this Honda.

Overall rating (422/600)

  • The new CR-V seems a little weaker with this motorization, especially considering that it offers more.

space and better usability than the previous generation. Serious buyers will have to wait

    hybrid version.

  • Cab and trunk (74/110)

Definitely one of the most spacious urban SUVs. The design is completely in the style of the last two generations, so it has problems with recognizability.

  • Comfort (87

    / 115)

Quite adequate comfort on most road surfaces, a few minor problems with short obstacles. Loud engine at high revs.

  • Transmission (49

    / 80)

This is not convincing enough, probably also due to the weight of the car.

  • Driving performance (75

    / 100)

Solid only if the driver is in no hurry

  • Security (90/115)

Electronic gadgets are already available in the basic version.

  • Economy and environment (47

    / 80)

Even the consumption depends on how fast the driver is in a hurry, Honda promises good

economy, but the CR-V with this engine does not provide this.

Driving pleasure: 2/5

  • When the CR-V has a more powerful drive, it can get better

coped with rivals and more demanding traffic.

We praise and reproach

flexibility and spaciousness

a vastly improved way to use the infotainment system – compared to its predecessor

lighting equipment with LED technology

an engine that lacks power in terms of weight

fuel consumption - depends on engine power and body weight

the engine can only be started when the electric parking brake is released
