Honda FR-V 2.2 i-CTDI Executive

This was (probably) remembered many years ago by Fiat engineers and the Multipla was created, this cute minivan with interesting headlights that the Fiat folks recently put in the gray category in terms of design. And Multipla sold well. She even won the title of Family Car or Minivan of the Year. But interestingly, other automakers (and the auto industry is very prone to copying) did not embrace the concept.

But then there was someone who dared: Honda created the FR-V. The logic (as in the case of Multiple) is pretty clear: with an average length of the car, there is room for six people. The question of why one should have exactly six and not five or seven seats in the car is left out (and the fact that I have never seen an FR-V or Multiple in which all the seats were occupied), and we prefer check how the concept works in practice.

The FR-V is not a giant in terms of external dimensions, but its design in the interior is promising, especially in terms of length. There are really no problems on the back bench with knees (but it sits a little low), and don’t expect miracles in the palette of miracles either. In short, three adults will sit in the back pretty decently, perhaps even slightly better than in a classic limousine van of this size. Behind them is a decent amount of luggage space that a classic seven-seat, single-seat car of this size doesn't have. Three in a row. .

There will be a little less joy ahead if the driver (as well as the passenger) doesn't meet Japanese standards. Longitudinal displacement of the front seats is extremely rare, and the thought of getting behind the wheel in comfort can reach eighty meters or a little more, which you forget about. The rest of the seats, though, are pleasantly comfortable.

And you will have to put up with one more: ahead, too, three in a row. This means that the driver's seat is closer to the door than we'd like and that the driving feel is cramped anyway, but with three people in front it's even more noticeable. Something can be solved by different longitudinal adjustment of the driver's and middle seats, but the only real negative remains - the driver's left hand is too close to the door, and the right hand is too close to the passenger (if any).

It's a pity, because while driving this FR-V is a fun partner. A 2-liter diesel with a very moderate 2 horsepower at the time competes well with a ton and six kilograms, the same as this FR-V weighs. Top speed is 140 kilometers per hour, and the six-speed transmission means the engine revs at low speeds at highway cruising speeds, which doesn't sound annoying. Of course, this does not mean that he does not like speed - on the contrary, he likes to turn into a red field (and a little more). Interestingly, the consumption does not suffer much - more than eight liters will not rise.

The fact that the gear lever is placed much higher on the instrument panel (of course, so that there is room for the legs of the central passenger under it) was a little embarrassing, but not at all embarrassing. In addition, this thing can be very convenient during turns. With its width, lively engine and pleasingly precise limousine van steering wheel, the FR-V is now the sportiest minivan (barring various special editions like the Zafira OPC). To some in the newsroom, we couldn't get out of it - but they don't have families and they didn't drive five friends at the same time. .

The Executive B equipment label also means extremely rich equipment, from the navigation device to the leather on the seats, but the price remains affordable - a good seven million tolars for such a car package is really a lot of money, but not too high. price.

Thus, three steps in a row can be a winning move, but only if you are willing to accept some of the shortcomings; and since most of these shortcomings are only noticeable in higher drivers, the solution is even simpler. Three in a row and drove off. ...

evaluation

  • Twice three plus a fairly large boot is a good idea, especially when combined with Honda's technical design. The diesel in the nose is just the third cross or circle in a row.
