Honda has determined the future of the Civic Type R

The Japanese manufacturer shared a vision for the future of the Civic Type R sports car. The new generation of the hot hatchback will receive a 4-line 2,0-liter turbocharged engine. It will be amplified by two electric motors. This means that the next Type R will be all-wheel drive, and its power will be more than 400 horsepower.

Hybrid equipment and the transition to a motorcycle scheme will enable the company to use the thrust vector control system. Accordingly, performance will be increased with the help of electric motors, and the current 2,0-liter gasoline turbo engine will retain 320 hp. and 400 Nm.

The new powertrain will be similar in design to the Acura NSX supercar. Because of this, the cost of the Civic Type R will increase significantly. This is why Ford abandoned the development of a Focus RS with a similar powertrain. This will greatly increase the value of the model, making the project impractical.
