Chrome-plated and beautiful cruiser motorcycles - how many advantages, so many disadvantages

Let's be clear - a cruiser is not a motorcycle for an amateur.

Driving such a powerful machine, you may not experience tremendous acceleration. You also won't be able to go through corners very quickly like in sports or enduro. Braking won't make you hit the front fork either. However, this does not mean that riding for a beginner is easy, easy and enjoyable. Oh no! Motorcycles cruisers are beasts that forgive little.

Cruiser - a motorcycle with an interesting history

It is very difficult for an amateur to distinguish a cruiser from a Harley or a chopper, and one can confuse the first with the second. However, it must be said directly that there is some truth in this, because it was with American animals that the history of cruiser motorcycles began.

The power of glass screen and film worked first Prohodimets. Chopper motorcycles, in particular Harley-Davidson models, have won a lot of fans. However, not everyone liked to sit with their arms outstretched like in a hospital bed, which is why cruisers were created. These motors are softer, still chromed and allow you to maintain an upright position.

Cruiser - motor is not everything, but ...

The vast majority of two-wheelers want a powerful machine with a powerful gurgling engine. Here's the thing. You will not surprise anyone with a 1600 cm³ or even 1800 cm³ engine.

Don't be surprised it doesn't lead to power. V2 engines, which are more powerful than many passenger cars, do not develop much power. Yamaha XVS 1300 A Midnight Star produced 1,3 hp. from a 73-liter unit. However, this is not the most important thing, because motorcycle cruisers are not used to starting on the race track.

Which cruiser has the most chrome in chrome?

Almost every cruiser has an engine on display and in great view. Who would want to cover up a nice pair of V-neck toppers? And who doesn't spend time polishing caps, guards, stem, fork or exhaust pipes? Everything must be lit. After all, this is a multi-kilometer cruise on a cruise ship.

Cruise for a beginner? This is not a good idea

Here is a good time to describe some of the serious disadvantages of this type of motorcycle. This is first of all:

  • braking problems;
  • poor maneuverability;
  • not much acceleration.

As one rider put it, the cruiser "doesn't brake, turn or accelerate." Why? Let's break it down into simple factors.

Hard braking on cruising bikes

One brake disc (certainly not on every two-wheeler) + about 300 kg of curb weight + driver = no braking. You may be surprised when you suddenly need to brake using the front hand brake. Therefore, it is best to master the technique of braking with the front foot. You can also help yourself slow down with the engine.

Cruiser motorcycles and turns are a problem

The same goes for cornering. If you don't know what countermeasures are, skip the powerful machines. If you know it, but cannot master it, also refrain from buying a strong and heavy beast. Motorcycles are clumsy in corners and in no way resemble sport or touring bikes in this respect.

Cruiser motorcycles - prices for driving pleasure

A real cruiser, i.e. having a large engine and able to travel with a passenger (most often with a passenger) is a car with an engine capacity close to one liter. Of course, you can drive a Suzuki or a Honda VT 125 Shadow to learn how to drive this type of car, commute or take short trips.

How much are you willing to pay for an iconic cruiser?

The cruiser was not originally conceived as a tiny motorcycle. And, unfortunately, it comes at a cost. For example, the absolute classic and top among cruisers, that is, the Kawasaki VN 2000, costs almost PLN 30. We are talking about copies that are already 10 years old from the date of production.

Buying a motorcycle, or which cruiser to choose?

Introducing the rating of cruiser motorcycles. The list will help you decide which motor of this type will fit.

Honda VT 125 Ten

This is an example of the category B motorcycle mentioned above. Its dimensions resemble its big sister, that is, model 2. The engine is built on the V15 system, which makes for a rather interesting sound. I must say that 120 hp. quite enough to accelerate to 150 km / h. Remember, however, that this is not a very light bike because it weighs XNUMX kg when dry. Its disadvantages include the price. It is high because of its reliability, popularity and class. This is not a cheap cruiser - 10 is no surprise.

Triumph Bonneville T100

It has a smaller engine compared to its predecessor (T120) but develops power in a completely different way and is a lot of fun to drive. On paper 55 hp not a stunning result, but it is very easy to accelerate to 170 km / h with it. For connoisseurs of the item, Triumph Bonneville is a classic of the genre.

Yamaha XV 950

The representative of the concern, which is part of the "Big Japanese Four", gives a lot of customization opportunities. The 942 cc V-engine produces 52 hp. and 80 Nm of torque. For a curb weight of less than 250 kg, this is really a lot. Yamaha cruising bikes have low failure rates and good performance, but this model may be too low for tall riders.

Ducati Diavel - half cruiser, half naked

This bike has won fans for the same reason others find it unacceptable in its class. It differs in its structure and appearance. He is closer to the road naked, which does not prevent him from appearing in the motor rating. An engine with a volume of almost 1200 cm³ has a power of 162 hp. and 128 Nm of torque. Do I need to explain what happens after turning the lever in this 210 kg two-wheeled bicycle?

The Cruiser is a beautiful car worthy of attention. However, there is a high price to pay for cruising motorcycles. Typically, 1000 cm³ machines cost around PLN 30. But no one said it would be cheap.
